Letting Sifa go, that would just sum this clusterf**k of a squad up. Hynes on a gazillion dollars looking like a reserve grade fill in, trindall on good money playing like chad townsend, mcinnes, ramien, kaufusi the list goes on.

Has AFB been worth the outlay really as well?
Agree with everything bar the AFB comment.

He’s been our only consistent big man all season that bends the line back consistently. I think he’s been playing busted lately as well. We still haven’t found a great front row partner to compliment him. Maybe Colquhoun in the future? We also need to use him smarter especially when we’re close to the opposition line.

According to the DT, BHU and Sifa are being granted permission to talk to rival clubs.

I feel for Sifa, he was re-signed on decent dollars but the reality is we're not getting value from him because of the limited minutes he plays (which doesn't appear to be his fault). He's not getting any younger either and definitely his days at centre seem to be done.

I can't remember whose suggestion it was, but it would have been nice to see him trialled at 13.
It didn’t say we have given Sifa permission just BHU just that would be open too it I think

To me it read BHU can go, and the club open to talk re Talakai.

On agree re Bellamy with Talakai, if used right he could destroy people from the bench but Fitz does not get bench rotation right.
There are rumours Eels in market for a backrower.
I can see some players doing a year in SL coming back then to play for Perth.
Talakai and Uele possibly can qualify for SL without putting stress on quota numbers

Sorry, probably didn't word it properly with AFB. He's easily our best forward but for the money we've outlayed on him we're not using him in a way that benefits the team, he was deadly for the warriors in the attacking zone yet we prefer to run crash plays with mcinnes and inside balls to Wilton and use AFB in a way that could be done so much better.

Also be good to see him with someone trailing him

The article:

Cronulla prop Braden Hamlin-Uele has been given permission to talk with rival clubs with the Sharks considering revamping their roster as they look to balance their playing squad.

Hamlin-Uele might not be alone with Cronulla also open to Siosifa Talakai potentially moving on at the end of this season.

Talakai and Hamlin-Uele have 12 months left on their deals but the Sharks are unlikely to offer either a deal beyond next season.

It has left Hamlin-Uele potentially on the move despite just re-signing with the Sharks last year. Hamlin-Uele has come across the radar of several clubs with the prospect of moving on as soon as the end of this year.

The 30-year-old has been a mainstay since his first full season at the club in 2019. Before that he had played one first grade game at the Cowboys in 2017 and one for Cronulla the following year.

He has also played one Test each for Samoa and the Kiwis.

The Sharks fought hard to keep Hamlin-Uele on a two-year deal after rejecting a long-term and richer deal to link up with the Warriors.

He is on a deal worth about $550,000 a season.

The Sharks are in the process of trying to re-sign in-form hooker Blayke Brailey. They also have Will Kennedy and Sam Stonestreet with deals expiring at the end of this season.

The Sharks are open to keeping the pair but remain tight on their salary cap. Kade Dykes is Canterbury bound while regular fill-in back Mawene Hiroti is also off-contract.

Cronulla have already lost Daniel Atkinson (Dragons) and are yet to sign any new players for next year.

How long has Mooney been back? Wasn't he the salary cap whisperer or was this all done before he returned.

Was obvious 3 years ago this side needed new faces yet here we are

Oh boy, I will be pissed if the Sharks let Sifa go whilst handing Kaufusi a nice, unearned extension.
There are a number of players I'd be looking to offload before Talakai.

Probably about 24 of them.

Maybe it is just his manager looking after his players best interests, as he is wasted waiting for our coach to give him his 10-15 mins off the bench.

Oh definitely agree with all that. We paid the big coin to lead the pack. But we should be utilising him way more in attack out wider when we’re close to the line.

That’s a coaching tactics thing. If we had Ivan Cleary as our coach AFB would’ve been crossing the opposition line a shyte load more.

Cleary loved utilising Kikau’s size and power close to the opposition line to deadly effect when he had him. One on one close to the line these type of guys don’t get stopped.

We have under used assets for these situations in Talakai & AFB.
