If he's not TBoon he's definitely watched a Dragons game. There are already enough ways to promote the ball without doing it the American way. Do we really want to be a sport where partially meeting an objective rewards you with another chance? If so we could see teams potentially not even hold the ball for one tackle for an entire half. Unlimited tackles were ended in the 60's for a reason.

Don't we already have that (but worse) with the way you get repeat sets - which is penalties, 40-20s and grubbers into the in goal?

You just have the scoring team kick off after the try/score.

Bombs are ridiculously overused in the NRL now. There has to be some downside for the kicking team such as if the defense catches it on the full it is a 7-tackle set and a free play or something.

Its a good article by McKinnon. Most people agree the game while good is now too structured and conservative. The best rugby league highlights are line breaks and passing moves especially from long range and broken play.
Some of his ideas are good. I don't agree with tries from kicks being worth 3 points. I've always liked the idea of a try from inside your own half being worth 5 points.

Yawn

The same bald merkins who want to take something out of the game to increase something else will be whinging in five years to go back the other way when their shit rule changes push the game miles towards doing something else too much

I remember hearing Vossy pitch this one years ago (when Tooves and Alfie started running water and spending 45 minutes a match on the field).

A trainer can spend as much time as he likes on the field, under two conditions
1. Their team has the ball (if there is a live turnover they must immediately leave the field)
2. They do not cross the halfway line unless there is a stoppage. If a player so badly needs a drink whilst his team are on the attack he can jog back 30m and get one.
