Our friend Perth Red is unsurprisingly a hypocrite. It wouldn't surprise me if he voted Brexit as well.

* Expand the game to Perth but not France as apparently "French clubs add zero pounds"
* Too many teams in Sydney (5.5m) yet Hull should have 2 teams (275k)
* French teams not bringing away fans yet a Perth side without the Bears base, would've done the exact same... not that it should be an issue, if a side can't survive without away fans then they don't have enough home fans and are unsustainable.

As the Bears are going to be my team, every fanbase has their share of bellends. I guess Perth Red fulfils the quota here.

Perth red said Perth bears would be worse possible outcome. Now look at his avatar.

1. French clubs add zero to the SL tv value. Vlandys obviously thinks a Perth/ns linked club does tot he Australian deal. Maybe as they are actually in the same country unlike French clubs?

2. SL isn’t nrl and australia isnt England. Context is everything.

3. not my issue, but I can see why a British club would rather have a club putting money into their pockets than one that doesnt.
Again context is everything, without a large tv deal game day revenue is critical For SL clubs.

talking of bellends wtf did perth do to deserve you as a fan?

Oh interesting you bring up TV ratings.

Here's an article about the TV ratings of the 2023 Super League grand final.

The 2023 Super League grand final between Wigan and Catalans on Sky Sports was watched by an average TV audience of 267,000 people, making it the lowest grand final audience for many years.

According to figures obtained by rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads, the grand final last weekend had a peak audience of 377,000 and the average audience was 267,000.

This was down significantly on the 2022 grand final result, between St Helens and Leeds, which had an average TV audience of 424,000.

It is believed almost 100,000 viewers watched this year's grand final in France on French TV L'Equipe.

The ratings result comes after a new TV deal was announced between Super League and Sky for the next two years which sees the overall sum headed to rugby league dropping to between £21 million to £22 million a year, it is believed.

Yeah, those heart land northern clubs really do provide SO much more compared to France.

Hypocrite.
‘2025 Television viewing figures for the Sky Sports broadcast averaged at 455,000 during the match, ‘

267k v 455k, it’s almost like having no French team in the grand final this year was much more valuable to tv lol

It strikes me that Catalans and Toulouse are one of the few long-term visionary things that the RFL have taken a chance on.
Catalans have probably disappointed a little, certainly on the results front, but from what I gather Toulouse are based out of a real city where the opportunities for growth both financial and supporter wise are far greater.
If Toulouse can kick on and become a dominant team in Super League this may change the perception and value of having French Rugby League teams in their competition.
Good on them, I think it`s worth a punt, as I said one of the few long-term visionary things the RFL have tried to pull off.

Catalans finances are amongst the strongest in super league despite travel costs being imposed on them

They’ve been very strong on the field too expect for their first year

Yeah I was aware of that but it just seems their ability to grow fanwise is restricted given their locality.
Toulouse on the other hand are based out of a genuine city (greater area ~1m) which if they can get success on the paddock could add a whole new dimension to European Rugby League in general and Super League in particular.

Yeh it’s a small town in France

When league first took off In the 30s Peripgnan was where the first club came from (pretty sure I read that 20 years ago lol)

Ground is getting another upgrade soon to around 12k

Toulose will take a while to get to that level but will eventually if they stay in super league

This is how dumb super league is run the last time they were in super league they had the French derby game on a Thursday night

Toulose wont stay at the large Union ground they are talking about moving back to one of the smaller grounds and upgrading it

This is a result of the poor management of SL where the TV deal is only getting worse. Not getting a French TV deal is the fault of those responsible for managing the game, selling the game and generating revenue for which they're failing on epic proportions.

Of course a bad TV deal in Australia is entirely the NRL'S fault...the king of contradiction strikes again lol

PVL insists on the French being involved because of the value it'll add to the global TV deal..

Rattled 🤣

So Castleford and Huddersfield add value to the already dimishing SL TV deal? Get to fück🤣

If you can't see how Wigan v Toulouse or Leeds v Perpignan isn't more attractive to the casual fan and broadcasters than Northern ex-mining village v Northern ex-mining village then you're beyond help. Ditto for sponsorship, I mean if you are Jason's Hardware Shop located in the M62, I suppose you'd prefer Wakefield in the SL to London, but if you want to see the sort of MNC's (eon, HubSpot, etc) associated with European RL then you need to move away from the M62. It's the same line of justification for a team in Perth FFS!

You're an embarrassing hypocrite, but it seems you enjoy this. You'll revel as LU's resident Bears bellend too 👍

Except youre wrong lol. Tv wants clubs with some fans watching The game on tv. Clearly shown by the gf tv audience stat shown. But keep on being a clown.

French clubs worth zero to British tv and sponsors. Fact.

maybe if Toulouse can grow French tv may take an interest and they Then might be worth something and justify the money the RFL spends on them.

😂

Throw in the towel now JB. You're hypocrisy on suburban stadiums and the support expansion markets should get is plain for all to see. There's a reason my posts are getting the reactions they are, unlike yours 👍 I hope a mobile phone is on your Christmas list this year because you need to give it a call to have a fücking word with yourself.

Northern league is worth increasingly little to British broadcasters. Teams outside of this area can change this perception.
