I’m astounded anyone rates Penisini. I must be watching a different game I think he is bog average. He appears to be very strong I’ll give him that. I’ve hoped he really kicked on and think I called it a few seasons in a row he will but he hasn’t.

I have also heard he is on serious money. I have a feeling we lowball him next extension and he leaves. I think he is just a bit brain dead, at times he has been Waqa Blake-esque in the brain dead department.

I think he’s very similar to Brown. I think he started his career strongly but hasn’t really kicked on like you’d think he’s trajectory would’ve taken him.
And like Brown you can get stuck in a cycle of paying him a contract value in advance I.e. he’s currently worth $350k but you reckon he’ll be worth $500k within next contract so you sign him to that, but then it winds ups he’s not worth $500k until end of that contract/start of next. At which point you of course go, well he’ll be worth $700k in his next contract period.

I don’t think he’s dumb but I think he’s guilty of trying to hard in games to cover his deficiencies but that comes about because he hasn’t tried hard enough at training to fix those deficiencies.

I also think given how his option renewal went, he’ll be low priced if he wants to return. We may even go the tried and true “we’re under cap restraints and don’t want to put an embarrassing offer to him so he’s free to negotiate elsewhere”.

His form this year was very poor compared to previous years. If he was 30 you'd say he is past it, but he is only 23. He should bounce back, but it is a concern that he was so bad this year.

He did recover later in season somewhat from his horrendous early season penisfinger form. Like many others, we are (I was going to say probably, but f**k that, if we aren’t already deep in discussions with new recruits then I agree with Delboy & Jake about Trolley MON & Jim’s Mowing) already looking at replacements and Penisini and the like need to prove very very quickly that they should be resigned instead.

Hold on mate, we are talking about the time before Lomax left (last week). Back then Russell was fifth choice. Now Russell is third or fourth, due to his own improvement, Simonsson's injuries, and the departure of Lomax. I agree we probably need to recruit a fifth choice outside back now that Lomax is gone, but that's a problem for now, not 12 months ago. Last off season we were wondering how we were going to fit both Russell and Simonsson into the team.

I've been his buggest supporter for years and he is ruining my reputation. Unsure what went wrong with him. 2026 is make or break for him. He either puts it all together or is just what he is. Strong with bad hands and poor speed
