Silly Season 2025/26

Penrith have signed Freddy Lussick, too

Not sure why.
Assuming they’ve signed Freddy as a hooker, looks like a depth play after losing Soni Luke and Schneider. The other young fella they have coming through is apparently very sharp, but tossing him in if Kenny gets injured/suspended might be asking a bit much.

I reckon its a good move by them. Freddy isnt the most creative 9 but he's tough and defends well above his weight. A lot like Kenny really, so he'll fit into Ivan's system well I think.

Good result for us too... having him take up a top 30 spot as a middle was just weird. Hopefully we find a proper big man to fill that spot now.

And as an aside - that's now 5 players we've shipped over for next season. Lussick, Ale, Going, Crosby and Moimoi (assuming that's been confirmed?). I get the feeling one of us is going to look a bit silly this time next year....

It's rugby league, what more would you expect!

There's a pool game in Christchurch vs Kukis which is unbelievable value price wise!
The issue for me is the price includes flights from Sydney and accomodation. Although a trip to Chch for the match, then home to HB for a week (or road trip up), and then flight to Brisbane makes a good little trip.

If I can fit a Magpies match in the NPC as well it will be an awesome trip.

Ale hasn't progressed at all in the time he's been here, or so we're led to believe with 42 games across 6 seasons.

It won't be Lussick that makes us look silly, I'm surprised someone of his limited ability would take up a top 30 spot anywhere. Yeah he defends OK, I guess

Going and Crosby could be the ones, but hey sometimes people need to leave their comfort zones to get the best out of their footy. It doesn't necessarily have to be on us

Ale was the one with all the potential back in the day so he's kind of the one who I think will succeed outside of the Warriors setup - pessimist that I am.

I don’t remember this game (I was 2) but loved the story behind it, which seemed well told to me.

They did a brilliant first up one about the 1992 cricket World Cup. Jeremy Wells is such a wonderful mind

Which games (all sports) would we choose for a blast from the past focus?

I’d go 2001-02 cricket Test in Perth where 4 guys scored hundreds and we were a bees dick off winning the series…2008 RL World Cup final, the 1990 Ranfurly Shield challenge between Akl and Canterbury when they did golden oldies scrums + became a drop kick fest…and maybe for balance, blowing the 8-1 lead in the Americas Cup in 2013.

Also, eventually the 2019 World Cup cricket final but not yet. Still too raw

The 1991 test in Melbourne where the kiwis had a strong win would be a good one. Personally it is the first league game I really remember watching, and McCracken for the corner will always live in my memory

Rugby wise, 94 sticks in the mind where Gregan got Wilson, and that crazy 2000 test in Sydney

Cricket, 2015 semi at Eden Park was amazing. The 2013ish test win in Aussie

Tall Blacks 2002 World Cup semi final run. Danyon Loader Atlanta 1996 golden double

they are all things that I remember exactly where I was when they occurred

91 Test in Melbourne is a good call. I remember that and I was 8. Same series the balls went missing in Palmy?

In terms of Warriors games I’d go 08 home final v the Roosters. The Storm week 1 final was a pretty unmemorable game until the final minute…but the Roosters game had it all.

Think Palmy was a year or 2 later from memory, we got absolutely smoked in the next 2 games of 1991

Warriors wise, some of those clashes when the finally beat the Broncos really stick out

I see R360 has gone tits up and looking at 2028 now, good onya Zak

I always remember this ODI fondly.

297 was a tall order back in those days. Cairns got sent up the order and got some rapid runs. Then Coney and Hadlee (79) put on a big partnership and we won with an over to spare.

True, Palmy must have been 94 without searching for it.

R360 was always a massive chance to fall over. So that leaves Zac in Japan, or somewhere else I presume
