Ill throw a conspiracy theory out there.

Dragging PVL into this may mean we won't go to Vegas next year despite the club confident they are going.

If thats the punishment no Vegas in 2027.

I am fine with that dragging the NRL into this.

They backed the wrong horse/f**kwits in this case Lomax/Storm
If proven that PVL was supporting the Storm he might not be going either.

Meanwhile the dribble down there continues from the CEO the one who sent Abdo the text message about applying the blowtorch.

On Melbourne Radio today.

Mental health card - Zac is struggling
Sydney Media piling on Zac isnt fair

What condescending f**kwits they are down there

Media piling on goes to the media to complain.. Makes sense..

And spending a lot of money in the process, while getting no benefit in return.
Zac / The Storm will likely be ordered to pay our legal costs when we win.

It's important to reinforce the legality of release agreements from contracts - otherwise merkin players would all just change teams one year into every three year deal, because they felt like it.

Or roll over and let the favoured teams continue to receive favours at the detriment of others

Have we rolled over ? The NRL is yet to decide how this will eventuate, and from what I can gather, no decision has been made.

That’s exactly what I’m getting at with my original post. If PVL and/or Abdo has replied favourably to Tripp, they’re in big Barney Rubble.
Interesting thing is we subpoenaed both of them today.

Is it any coincidence it was the same time both landed in Vegas was it to ambush them both and throw the Storm/NRL off kilter a little bit more.

The drip feeding & timings of information coming out in daily court hearings and subpoenas have been very calculating from afar.

What are we actually hoping to get from this court case ?

As far as I can tell, we are not getting compensation or a player of equal standing.

Things are about to get very, very interesting…
Reading between the lines:

Since rorting, the club has been trying to do the “right thing” almost to its detriment at times. Read the last bit as other clubs have been a lot more fluid on what the right thing is.
News of Lomax to R360 breaks but we also either suspect or outright know he just wants out and that if rugby is no go he already has contact with Storm.
To protect from that last bit, we stipulate he can’t return to NRL unless we agree.
Lomax’s first preference is still R360 but that doesn’t pan out and for whatever other reason, other rugby is lower than returning to NRL.
Lomax agrees with Storm prior to even talking to us.
Storm approach us for release. We say no to offer.
Storm approach NRL to blowtorch us suggesting holding the rights to Lomax should impact our cap.
NRL just want it to go away so pressure us to take what’s on offer.
News breaks (likely from us) about it all and the overwhelming sentiment especially from Eels supporters is “f**k the Scum & Lomax” and that we should stand up for ourselves.
The club becomes truly backed in corner between pressure from fans and pressure from NRL/Storm/Lomax, and to their credit, even if it exposes some very high level dodgy shit, the club has gone with the fans.

The NRL has been officially dragged into the Zac Lomax saga after Parramatta’s lawyers issued head office with a subpoena in relation to their dealings with Melbourne around the NSW star’s potential return to the game.
The subpoena was issued in the Supreme Court on Wednesday and is due to be returned to the court on February 27.

Sources with knowledge of the situation said that the subpoena could extend to text messages and emails related to the Lomax situation.
The Eels were successful earlier this week in having the final date for the hearing pushed back so they could cross-examine Storm chair Matt Tripp in person.
The latest subpoena is likely to directly call for evidence from NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo and ARL Commission chair Peter V’landys given both men were involves in discussions with Parramatta over Lomax’s future.

The Storm have made three attempts to reach a settlement with Parramatta that would allow Lomax to return to the NRL following his decision to request a release from the Eels so he could join rebel rugby union competition R360.
However, Parramatta have dug in their heels and opted to pursue a resolution through the courts.
MORE TO COME.

The NRL has been dragged into the Zac Lomax legal stoush after Parramatta issued an urgent subpoena to obtain documents relating to head office’s involvement in the matter.
Parramatta began legal proceedings to prevent Lomax from joining the Storm, given his release from a four-year contract was contingent on the Eels providing written consent. The Blues winger was granted a release to join rebel rugby competition R360, but has been left in limbo after its inaugural season was put back until 2028.

The Eels enjoyed a mini victory ahead of next week’s hearing by ensuring Melbourne chairman Matt Tripp has to testify in person, rather via video link. Now lawyers acting for the blue and golds have requested the NRL to hand over all information relating to its involvement in the Lomax saga.
Parties are normally given two weeks to comply with subpoena requests, but the NRL will be required to provide materials to the court by Friday. There is then expected to be legal argument on Monday as to whether they are admissible at the hearing.

Parramatta powerbrokers privately believe the NRL has sided with Melbourne in the matter.
In explosive documents tendered to the Supreme Court, it was revealed Storm chief executive Justin Rodski allegedly sent a text message to NRL CEO Andrew Abdo stating: “Hi Andrew, not getting anywhere at this point, can you apply the blow torch on parramatta [sic] to get this done.”
Rodski added: “Lomax staying in the NRL is obviously a win for the game.”
According to a document tendered to the court by the Eels: “This message was an attempt to use the NRL to place pressure on the Parramatta Eels to resolve the matter on terms acceptable to the Melbourne Storm.
“During negotiations, this communication was not disclosed by the Melbourne Storm to the Parramatta Eels. It is not known whether any other communications have occurred between the NRL and the Melbourne Storm concerning the placing of pressure or otherwise on the Parramatta Eels to accept offers made by the Melbourne Storm.”

You would think now with Lomax and also Barnett that this would be a perfect time for the NRL to sit down with the RLPA and come up with a trade system...

Have a windows lets day novemembwr and then February...
With Barnett he wants to be traded to a side close to family then his manager should be reaching out to those clubs and organising a trade that the warriors agree with..

I said it elsewhere but it depends how PVL/Abdo come out of this. Current CBA ends next year and if they are still around then trades will definitely be on cards. Also depends on outcome of case, if we lose making trades possible may cost too much

Misunderstanding, I thought you were saying Parra has spent alot of money in the process while getting no benefit in return, so why have they bothered, that's why i wrote the other option was to roll over which you shouldn't. Apologies.

In relation to Abdo and PVL, fact is, so far, to us the general public we have no idea what they have done in relation to this. We are relying on media reports, and let's face it, many reporters put their interpretation into what happened which may be at variance with what actually happened. I suspect it will come out in the court hearings.

In relation to "trades", it won't get off the ground mainly because the legal system here is not like in the USA where trades happen because you can trade a player's contract from one organisation to another. From the (admittedly) very little I know about employment law here in Australia, that is not permitted.

How does the AFL have trades?
