They`ve got an abattoirs in Wingham which employs a lot of people and a lot of League people. They prob line them up jobs there.
Wingham Tigers is the club I played for as a kid, same Mitch Barnett and Garry Bridge back in the day. Those two had slightly more illustrious careers than me though.😏
Ok wow thanks for the info. They have just signed up half a team there.

Full Hunters 2026 squad list.

Plenty of new names on that list.
If I were to pick a team for round 1 from that list then I would probably go with the follow.

1. Sani Wabo
2. Douglas David
3. Clent Lama
4. Elijah Rotinga
5. Carlos Lung (debut)
6. Joel Gena (debut)
7. Jamie Mavoko
8. Koso Bandi
9. Lynchil Kiap
10. Himson Ulalom (debut)
11. Benji Kot
12. Whallen Tau-Loi
13. Ila Alu

14. Tapia Solu (hooker)
15. Zebbedy Kip (prop)
16. Manase Kai (prop)
17. Murray Connors (2ndrow)
18. Myles Banam (winger) (debut)
19. Joshua Mire (halfback) (debut)

Benji Kot, Whallen Tau-Loi and Elijah Rotinga missed the 2025 season through injury so they kinda feel like new additions.

Meanwhile another former Hunters player Brendon Nima has moved to Country NSW.
This time for the Temora Dragons in Group 9.
His wife who is a current PNG Orchid player has also joined the Womens Team.

Both Banam and Ulalom are coming through from the Rabaul Gurias team.
Ulalom was actually part of the Hunters squad last year too but never got to debut until now.
which of the new players are you looking forward to seeing mate and which do you think cou potentially progress to the next level i.e. super league or even NRL?

Mostly looking forward to see how Ulalom goes.
I think he is related to Epel Kapinias at the London Broncos so will be interesting to see if he progresses the same.

Also will be interested to see how the new halves pairing go. With both Lau and Voro moving on, I wonder if Mavoko and Gena can gel together. And if they don't will the coach be brave enough to blood the youngsters like Joshua Mire or Felix Beki.

Yeah, like I previously said I’ve never seen or heard of ulalom before but he definitely gives the hunters pack size which is sadly lacking.

im just not sold on mavoko and never have been so hopefully beki and mire get a lot of game time and push him(mavoko) out of the side and squad completely.

same goes for Alu who although been a great servant and brings experience I feel him taking a place in the starting 13 is denying a much younger kumul with potential.

Yeah alot of fans in PNG have been asking why Mavoko and Alu are still in the Team.
Both players have already reached their ceiling and will never progress beyond where they are now.
