Still only 26 players name in the top30 as per our team list

we have moved through the end of Feb where needed to nominate 28 players in the top30
Mate whoever is in charge of updating our website is robbing the club blind. Add Nick and Hayden to the top 30, so that makes 28.

I’d say at close to half of the knock on effect squad is no longer at the dragons or playing reserve grade. Quite embarrassing to be honest that it’s still posted when the season has begun

So according to the NRL website, Nick T (26/27) and Leeroy Weatherall (26) are the two players added to bring our squad total to 28.

Do u have the link ?

https://www.nrl.com/news/2026/01/01/2026-nrl-signings-tracker-the-latest-from-all-17-clubs/ this one doesn’t look quite up to date ie some players don’t show recent extensions?

This one as per Feb still only had us at 26 players

Weatherall is a surprise for me re 2026 top30 spot?

Quinn played in trials, he may have some time at hooker also if I remember correctly (could be mistaken there).

But yeah good point with no Reed.. they might move TPH to 6.. or they might bring Quinn back in.. problem is Hammoud also went off HIA in the flegg game so hes not available either.. now they need to fill both 7 jerseys.. and we are hoping its just 1 game missed by either of them....

the below 3 seem to be a lock for our starting middles the next few years minimum if not next 5 years. TCouchmen will no doubt shoot up in $ nearing nov1 2026. I’m sure a fair few clubs would love to have him join.

KK
TCouchman
Stewart

So we can’t keep em all re the other middles !

Sele?
Guler?
Lawrie?
Kerr - will we keep in 2027 or say buddy get us through 2026 but superleague is calling if u want a few more years playing

who stays for 2027 and who goes ?

also

Sua - has a PO for 2027 and no doubt Mal has been speaking to his manager. He maybe reluctant to do a first year at Perth but open thereafter

LPT - a long way behind to dethrone KK, Stewart and or TCouchman for a starting spot in the middle

Then 5 doesn’t go into 3 fighting for a starting spot.

Sua - will he commit only to 2027 to play with KK his buddy and then take a big $ to join Perth in 2028?

Luc - has a role for 2027 but does he for 2028? And if so what would a 2028 role be for Luc given our backrow depth ?

Egan - really looks more the light footed mobile left edge for our pack for many years. He was clinical in his defence but loved running lines in his small 2025 sample in the NRL

Halangahu - arguably could also be our 2028 bash and barge right edge backrower as my sense is he is not quite quick enough vs other options to own that left edge where so much attack tends to drift towards

RCouchman - I wonder if he will also really make a case for that right edge bash and barge backrower for 2028? His work rate on kick chase and rugged metres is his wheelhouse

plus we are taking into account we we are still after another prop, halfback, FB and winger and maybe even a hooker for 2027 or 2028?

What’s happened to Reed?

What’s happened to Reed?
Failed his HIA just 3mins into the game.. slightly late hit from a big dogs prop after he passed it.. it was either the contact from the props shoulder with Reeds head.... and/or the way Reed got sent flying head first back into the turf.. either way was very unpleasant.. hoping its just a 2 week concussion protocol.. he did get straight up tbf.. but you dont want to see too much of this stuff on a young kid.. thats how you get into a situation like Keary had.

Another article in smh but couldn’t access. Wrt Bula

Dragons to pounce on Jahream Bula if Tigers can’t seal deal

ByAdrian Proszenko

March 12, 2026 — 11.24am

St George Illawarra plan to make a huge play for Jahream Bula to be the long-term successor for Clint Gutherson if the star fullback does not come to terms with Wests Tigers.

The Tigers will launch their premiership campaign on Saturday against the Cowboys at Leichhardt Oval with the long-term futures of marquee men Bula and co-captain Jarome Luai undecided.

Bula has a mutual option in his contract for 2027. The Tigers have until May to exercise it, which would result in him playing next season on a salary of $900,000. If they choose not to, Bula can take up a player option to stay put by the following month at a price of $800,000. If neither occurs, Bula is free on the open market.
Sources not authorised to speak publicly because Bula’s isn’t a free agent have told this masthead that the Dragons will make the No.1 a priority target if he can’t strike an agreement with the Tigers.

Gutherson has made a positive impact on the club since arriving last year, providing leadership as co-captain and a reliable figure at the back. However, Gutherson is contracted until the end of next year and the Red V wants a succession plan for the fullback spot. Another custodian option, Tyrell Sloan, is contracted until the end of 2026.

Tigers teen prodigy Makasini open to rugby return after 2027
Both clubs identify Bula as a potential franchise player. Dragons officials, to ensure they were observing anti-tampering rules, contacted the NRL to get clarification on when they are permitted to approach Bula. That can only happen if the deadline for Bula or the Tigers to take up the option expires.
The Tigers remain hopeful of coming to terms with the Fijian international, but it won’t happen before their season kicks off. Former chief executive Shane Richardson felt he was close to securing commitments from Bula and Luai before he resigned late last year. Bula’s wife Aaliyah - the daughter of former Bulldogs, Dragons, Sea Eagles and Tigers forward Solomon Haumono - was last year cut from the Tigers’ NRLW squad.

The Tigers have signed promising Panther Jack Attard, a former Australian Schoolboys fullback, as insurance should Bula move on.
Bula has also been linked with Canterbury. Bulldogs fullback Connor Tracey is off contract at the end of the season.
In other contract news, Cronulla is expected to announce the retention of Billy Burns for a further two seasons. The Perth Bears had expressed interest in Burns, but the back-rower has opted to remain in the Shire.

Easy deal, Sloan and Lawrie for Bula.

In my opinion a well-balanced article about what we're up against trying to sign players and possible solutions.
Bula is another one, he hasn't accepted Tigers extension for 900k yet, is he trying to get more.
If Dragons are serious they will need to offer him over 900k and possibly more years, otherwise why would he leave.
Is he worth 1mil ?
Who else is there Conner Tracey, Will Kennedy.
Chevy Stewart would come cheap but nothing special.
