Dragons board unable to agree on appointment of Dean Young as interim coach, so they have cancelled training tomorrow as there is nobody to run it. WTF lol
It's probably not too bad a job really, the expectations are going to be low. They remain crap and he's not really going to cop much blame, they improve and he'll get huge credit.Young’s just been confirmed tonight as interim.
Brave man…
Wow wasn’t expecting that. Haven’t seen any comments from him yet on why, that’ll be interesting.Ennis has walked away from the Dragons today
I'd be hoping the old rule - of a player 'on report' and missing the next game - would sort of even out across the competition. Therefore, we'd benefit from not playing a suspended player just as much as any other team.im kinda bringing this up because how many times in the past have we griped about how the next weeks team got the benefit when one of our players is injured and/or HIAed out of the game and all we got was a penalty. The opposing player then goes on to be suspended by the judiciary and cant play against whoever they have the following week, which is of no benefit to us.
With this new ruling, we would potentially get the other teams player at least getting binned for 10mins rather than the toothless "on report".
But as that article implies, it could be fraught with all sorts of danger as we know how cunning NRL teams can be to get an edge.
Turns out Young punted him.Ennis has walked away from the Dragons today
Crazy stuff really, considering Ennis has only been there since the last off seasonTurns out Young punted him.
Reckoned the players need to “feel different” and hear “different voices”.
Rather ironic given his history.
Just had a closer look at his record - he was an assistant under Mary for 6 years, left for 3yrs to work with Payton, before returning under Flanagan from ‘24 onwards.
So he’s now in his 9th year as a coach at the Drags, and they’ve played finals twice in that time. He’s the poster boy for underperformance at that joint.
I think Mick might’ve dodged a bullet.
I feel for Kyle Flanagan tbh, some of the stuff he cops is ridiculous. May not be the best player in the NRL but far from the worst. Last week he made 41 tackles and missed 1, that’s huge for a half
