It’s been fascinating reading the suggested team lists. Before making comments on a few players I will share this observation on recent Dragons’ history. When a thrashing at the hands of a superior team is predicted, more often than not, the Dragons tend to put on a gutsy performance. Plus, this season, despite 0-7, they have been in most games and could have beaten Dogs, Eels and Manly if opportunities were taken.
Now to players. Reed, Halangahu and Loko must play. I would add Nick T except he has been injured. Don’t mind the suggestion of Kyle starting as long as he doesn’t play longer than 20 minutes at half. I actually feel Flano was heading in this direction with Kade not playing NSW Cup last week. Liddle’s injury may have stopped Flano’s last throw of the dice, Liddle starting and Reed getting some game time.
Other than Toby, I reckon Sele is the best value prop. A poster asked what’s happened to Josh Kerr? My guess is that Flano put a no offloads edict on him and that has stymied his game. I counted 5 offloads in his recent NSW Cup game, which led to 2 tries and one loss of possession.
Sloan - what disappoints me about some Forumites is that once they develop an opinion, evidence to the contrary is not acknowledged. He did well under the high ball despite constant pressure. Unlike Dufty he couldn’t make ground because of the chasers being on top of him whereas it was easy for Dufty to make 15-20 metres because the bombs were well clear of chasers.
Great to see some recognition of TPH in this thread. Love watching him play. What’s his contract status?
I liked what I saw from Hayden B on Saturday. Speed and footwork.
Hopefully Deano will give us a sense of genuine change with his first selection today. Or like Flano, is he too close to the senior players?
