So when young roles out a similar team to what Flanno has rolled out what’s everyone thoughts going to be?
As I’ve said multiple times during the year , our main 17 is close to our best (that’s saying something)

Obvs Loko,Hame,Reed to be in and around .
Bucannan I think another year away, while lykan been there..

Though looking at cup (yes a few great young players) though don’t think many coaches will bring them up yep..

let’s see .

Don't know about availability but here's what I think the best team is for this season.

1) Sloane (I don't rate him but he has speed which we Sorley lack)
2) Feagai (he's bog average but sadly the best winger available right now)
3) Suli
4) Holmes
5) Fale (He's better and younger than Tu IMO)
6) Atkinson
7) Reed (give him a run already)
8) Heme Sele
9) Cook
10) T. Couchman
11) Leilua
12) Sua
13) Stewart

14) Liddle
15) Loko
16) H (not going to attempt to spell his name)
17) Egan

It doesn’t really matter, we will get flogged regardless. Our issues are much deeper than who plays 7 or coach.
We have a fullback frightened of contact
No speed on the edges
No direction from the halves
A 34 year old hooker who has to play 80 mins
3 or 4 young forwards who have to lead beyond their years.
Some useless forwards that don’t even make 50 metres a game.
Applying the most boring game plan in the comp. A winger hit up, 3 forwards hit up against the middle wall. An inside ball to an edge back rower back into the above mentioned wall. Then bomb with limited chase. I won’t be watching, I’ll be playing golf.
You have a fullback who doesn’t like contact and have offered a million dollars to another fullback who hates contact. Couldn’t make that up.

Is throwing Reed his debut in a game where we are likely to get smashed by 50 + a responsible coaching move?
I'd much rather we get through this upcoming massacre and then start fresh after the bye with some more adventurous team selections.
I agree, I don't think it's fair to play Reed under these circumstances. Big day, huge crowd, he'd be on a hiding to nothing. Better to debut him after the bye. The only change I'd make for this game is to drop Holmes, move Fale to centre and put CT back on the wing assuming he's OK to go. I suspect there might be some forwards (eg Kerr) who will try harder now Flanno is gone but the only way to tell is to let them play.

Then with a 2 week break, try out Reed/Atko or Reed/LKT or Reed/Kyle or Reed/Gutho with Atko to fullback, and workout which combo has the most promise.

It’s been fascinating reading the suggested team lists. Before making comments on a few players I will share this observation on recent Dragons’ history. When a thrashing at the hands of a superior team is predicted, more often than not, the Dragons tend to put on a gutsy performance. Plus, this season, despite 0-7, they have been in most games and could have beaten Dogs, Eels and Manly if opportunities were taken.
Now to players. Reed, Halangahu and Loko must play. I would add Nick T except he has been injured. Don’t mind the suggestion of Kyle starting as long as he doesn’t play longer than 20 minutes at half. I actually feel Flano was heading in this direction with Kade not playing NSW Cup last week. Liddle’s injury may have stopped Flano’s last throw of the dice, Liddle starting and Reed getting some game time.
Other than Toby, I reckon Sele is the best value prop. A poster asked what’s happened to Josh Kerr? My guess is that Flano put a no offloads edict on him and that has stymied his game. I counted 5 offloads in his recent NSW Cup game, which led to 2 tries and one loss of possession.
Sloan - what disappoints me about some Forumites is that once they develop an opinion, evidence to the contrary is not acknowledged. He did well under the high ball despite constant pressure. Unlike Dufty he couldn’t make ground because of the chasers being on top of him whereas it was easy for Dufty to make 15-20 metres because the bombs were well clear of chasers.
Great to see some recognition of TPH in this thread. Love watching him play. What’s his contract status?
I liked what I saw from Hayden B on Saturday. Speed and footwork.
Hopefully Deano will give us a sense of genuine change with his first selection today. Or like Flano, is he too close to the senior players?

SuA suspended
Fale did a hammy on his intercept
Ryan Couchman back
Possibly Gutho and Egan back
Liddle out with Hammy

I kinda get the feeling we'll all be disappointed with the TL today.

I do hope I'm wrong .
Interesting what Young does with KF in the longer term- Particularly as Shane has banged on about KF being the best half in the club- just ask the other coaches he's said. Young and Shane are rumoured to be tight.

I can see KF being kept for Anzac Day because throwing Reed into Anzac Day with all the emotion of the day and huge crowd etc would be overwhelming for him. But after that??? If Young ditches Kyle to the reserves bench as I think he will have to, it will confirm what we all suspected. Young was frightened to challenge Shane about Kyle just to keep his Assistant job.

I hate to say that while I was hoping that Souths would put a score on us resulting in Shane's demise, I'm now hoping that we continue to lose with Young as this club will not prosper with him as Head Coach. Lancaster is an arrogant fool and I have no faith in the Board making good decisions when the evidence is 50/50. Young's tenure as Head Coach has to continue being a disaster before we get the coach (Talau, Brad Arthur) who can do us some good.

Well, it’s all on a young now as Ennis has just quit… what a shambles we are.
No head coach
No attacking coach.
Worst defense in the comp, and that poor defense coach is now interim head coach..

I would rather Kyle over Reed for this week in the starting lineup because it isn’t fair to play Kade on this occasion as his first game. That being said, I’m not opposed to him getting some minutes off the bench when the game’s gone. Would’ve preferred LKT over Kyle this week but he’s obviously gone with concussion, and O’Neill’s pec is still recovering.

However, I’ll definitely be pissed if I see Emre and mud guts take the field

Like I said I think that's the best team regardless of availabilities don't get me wrong it's not a strong team by any means but CT can't be trusted always injured and therefore we play with a man down so Feagai is the best option Gutho is passed it, I'd drop Holmes but there are absolutely no better options sadly.

I was genuinely of the opinion to keep Reed in KOE cup for a while longer up until recently. Having seen how woeful our halves have been and all the creativity they lack, I believe Reed is already a better half than both of them.

Why not give him a crack this week? Sooner or later he will play in front of a big crowd on a big occasion, so may as well give him a crack now or he will find himself in the same position very soon anyway. At least this way he won't be scared of the limelight making his debut on Anzac Day.

Yes he will make mistakes and things will happen that will test his confidence, as long as our senior players and interim coach give him positive encouragement, reinforcement and a license to play what is in front of him, then I think he'll be better for the experience and there's no better time to introduce him now when we are at rock bottom

Come on DY make it happen this week!

I agree. DY just needs to get behind him and take the pressure off. Just let him know to go out, not overthink it and whatever happens he will still get a run next week. We have nothing to lose. And get in his 2nd rowers ear and tell him its his job to protect him at all costs and belt anything that moves in his direction.

Depends what you are expecting, there has only been a day since the sacking
Including Reed and Atkinson in the halves will immediately introduce the changes we are all looking for. Reed will steer the team around the paddock and act as an alternative kicker. Reed can lkick ong, short, conversions, penalty goals, and field goals.

All Young will have to do is to design Reed's protection in h his game plan.
