Laffranchi signs for the Coast
July 15, 2005

WESTS Tigers forward Anthony Laffranchi has become the fourth player to sign for the Gold Coast NRL franchise.

Laffranchi, a bustling prop out of the Gold Coast junior system, will remain at the Tigers next season before joining Brian Carney, Luke Bailey and Preston Campbell as foundation members of the club.

Laffranchi, 24, said he was excited about the prospect of returning to the Gold Coast.

"It is definitely an honour to be asked to play with the new team on the Gold Coast," he said.

"To be able to come home to play for the local team is something that I've really only dreamt about until now.

"There is something special about playing in front of a home crowd, it's so great to be given the chance to do it."

The Gold Coast is in negotiations with Brisbane youngsters Steven Michaels and Greg Eastwood as well as Sharks fullback David Peachey.

David Peachey !? I think his form this year has been good .. Gets maligned for mistakes too much IMO Saves a lot of tries and been scoring a few lately too. Wouldnt mind seeing him on the coast

Please, not Peachey. He was briliant for years but that has turned to inconsitency over the last two or three. And the GC Suns don't start for another 18 months.

Steven Michaels and Greg Eastwood wouldn't be bad signings for the Gold Coast Side.

What About Stuart Fielden or Jamie Peacock of Bradford, one of them had been linked with a move to GC in our papoers a month or so ago, would be a good signing?

Greensheilds just said on channel 9 news that he is unlikely to be with the dragons much longer, saying his manager has been talking to the Gold Coast, he said he hoped to have another year at the dragons then off the to the coast

Michaels has re-signed with Brisbane, can't remember for how long.

Clint Greensheilds would be a great buy, far better option then Peachey IMO.
