French RL fans are very sad  , one of the greatest player of their history died on friday in Carcassonne.

Gilbert Benausse, 74 years, he was an emblematic player of the French team in the years of post-war period.
With the nickname of “Gijou”, he played stand-off or center for Carcassonne, Toulouse and Lézignan,
he had 49 caps with the shirt of the team of France, from 1951 until 1964.
Regarded as the successor of Puig-Aubert as a leader of the team of France, Benausse was in the team which won (29-28) against Australia, on July 2, 1955 in Brisbane.
He had in addition taken part in two World cups (1954 and 1957), and has in his prize list four titles of champion of France with Carcassonne (1952 and 1953) and Lézignan (1961 and 1963) and also four french "Lord Derby" cup (with Carcassonne in 1951 and 1952 then with Lézignan in 1960 and 1966).
His son, Patrice Benausse, still play for the colors of the Carcassonne team.
