If the country players were any good they'd be in town already. I'm glad no "token" country players were selected.

Does anyone know what the situation is if a NSW Residents player is selected in NRL this week?
Can they still play in the Residents game or do they miss it?

Nathan Hinton and Zeb Taia were both selected in the Knights NRL side.

Usually players selected in these rep matches are supposed to sit out the weekend before.

In previous years they could play the week before

but I noticed before Origin I that the under 19's players were all missing from the lower grades so maybe the rules have changed

Very interesting

If Taia plays for the Knights and the other players do not play for their clubs this week then I'm guessing that basically Smith told Taia he needed him for 1st grade and couldn't afford to have him sit out due to being picked for this team

I've had a look at the Premier League teams and it looks like everyone has been named in their team this week so i guess they will probably play and then back up on Wednesday.

That would give Qld and advantage because i'm pretty sure their players are sitting out this weekend.

Hinton is playing firstgrade replacing Kidley - and Uate is being tipped as a late replacement in firstgrade as well

Brad Cross from the Raiders has been called in to replace Nathan Hinton. Given that Cross is a centre, I'm not sure how it's going to work. Joel Reddy to fullback?
