With Waterhouse out and Pritchard and Grant more than likely out, what does your team look like?

For me:

1. Coote
2. Earl
3. Tighe
4. Jennings
5. Gordon
6. Graham
7. Walsh
8. Civoniceva
9. Kingston
10. Puletua (Grant if fit)
11. Smith
12. Cooper (Pritchard if fit)
13. Lewis

Bench
14. Iosefa (more game time FFS)
15. McKendry
16. Bell
17. Paulo/Penese/Blair

I don't want Iosefa there.

He had enough gametime last night and soon as Kingston came off and he went on we were rubbish.

He is a penalty waiting to happen and his passes from dummy half are totally terrible.

What has Burns done to warrant being dropped? Burns on the bench, Iosefa sitting with the coach.

Burns hasn't done much wrong to get dropped, I just think we need some impact off the bench, of which Burns offers nothing. Even Blair would be a better option IMO.

Is Paulo fit and available to play if required?

Great news on Pritchard and Grant if that's true, Grant still looks a touch underdone to me.

I'd love to see Gordon in the centres but I think it's too big a transition to make (especially defensively) in 1 week.

Surely Elliot can't drop Earl and keep Purtell after that game right? Surely!!!

You'd think that after Earl's effort at finishing last night there's no way they would drop him. They might have a hard time explaining that to the casual supporters. Purtell is the obvious choice to drop if Coote is fit. I'd like to see them justify keeping him then.

Who reckons that if Coote plays, Tighe is dropped? LOL. Since Elliott would find it hard to drop Earl after his performance last night, whereas with Tighe less questions would be asked.

I'd say Walsh won't be dropped for Graham either. Management would look stupid replacing our halfback of the next 3-4 years with the player we let go (which I assume is the case, rather than Graham wanting to go. Although Elliott is the coach so he might have wanted to leave).

What I'd pick:
1. Coote (Gordon)
2. Earl
3. Jennings
4. Gordon (Blair)
5. Tighe
6. Burns
7. Graham
8. Grant (McKendry)
9. Kingston
10. Civoniceva (C)
11. Smith
12. Pritchard (Cooper)
13. Lewis
Bench
14. Cooper (Laurie)
15. Paulo
16. Bell
17. McKendry (Puletua)

The only change with your team is change Gordon and Tighe. It's not the time to be changing Centres on the wing Gordon can change it up with Coote and play a roaming role in the centres it's harder and too different in defence.

Walsh and Purtell will both stay. Walsh I am fine with although clearly he wasn't 100% on Sat

Walsh is a liability in defence, especially in semi-final football. Purtell offers absolutely nothing in attack or defence. Coote is a specialist Fullback. Gordon is in career best form and needs to be highly involved in the game, so my team would be:

1. Coote
2. Earl
3. Jennings (spray some sticky stuff on the fingers this week)
4. Gordon
5. Tighe (Gordon to defend on the wing and attack in the centres)
6. Burns
7. Graham
8. Petero
9. Kingston
10. Grant (I hear he will be ok to play)
11. Smith
12. Bell
13. Lewis (must play even if carrying an injury)

14. McKendry
15. Cooper
16. Pritchard (if fit, otherwise Blair/Paulo)
17. Iosefa

I was thinking the same thing as Fibro... Gordon at centre in attack so he gets his hands on the ball more, and on the wing in defence, swapping with Tighe.

The alarm bell have been ringing in regards to Purtell for months on end yet ME still continues to pick this bloke.

If the raiders had their passing game a bit more accurate, they would have been awarded both of those tries in Purtell's wing and it would have been a lot more embarrassing than the final score looked.

So what ME has to do is look at this game as a scoreline od 34-22 instead of the score which the game ended up.

That way they look at what they have to do in a more realistic approach.

But Matt Elliott and the Panthers team now stand at a precipice were they really have to get this right before Saturday's game.

It is all or nothing, and after a season that has promised so much,it would be deemed as failure if we weren't at least to go further than Saturdays game.

For me,ME would have no choice but to pick a team from the nucleus of what was before the injuries and patch it up the best he can with what we have left.

The rest is up to the players.

Probably lucky I am not the coach but I would be inclined to give this a try.

1. Gordon
2. Simmons
3. Jennings
4. Tighe
5. Earl
6. Coote
7. Graham
8. Grant
9. Kingston
10. Petero
11. Smith
12. Lewis
13. Burns
14. McKendry
15. Bell
16. Puletua
17. Cooper

Bit of a gamble, but nothing ventured nothing gained. Flash has been our best in the past few weeks at the back & I would be reluctant to move him. If Kingston needs a rest then Burns goes to Hooker. Having Burns at Lock allows him to help Coote in defence. If Peanuts plays he comes in for Cooper but still on the bench. If Grant is out we are farked. With the above lineup Tighe could also replace Simmons on the wing & bring the Hamburgler back to cover Centre.

IMO Its time to give Joseph a go and starting in the 12. See if he is up to it to replace Frank.

1. Lachlan Coote
2. Sandor Earl
3. Michael Jennings
4. Brad Tighe
5. Michael Gordon - He'll see more ball there than spreading the ball to centres...because god knows we can't do that. Its too complex.
6. Wade Graham
7. Luke Walsh
8. Tim Grant
9. Kevin Kingston
10. Petero Civoniceva
11. Nathan Smith
12. Joseph Paulo
13. Luke Lewis

RES:
14. Travis Burns
15. Matthew Bell
16. Sam McKendry
17. Frank Pritchard - bring him off the bench at the back ends of each half. That's usually when the Roosters are hot...so if we can fight fire with fire at the back end of each half...it'd help.
18. Gavin Cooper
19. Frank Puletua
20. Adrian Purtell

There's only one person in the world dumb enough to pick him. Sadly that's the bloke who gets to make the decision. :(

My side would be:

1. Lachlan Coote
2. Sandor Earl
3. Michael Jennings
4. Michael Gordon
5. Brad Tighe
6. Travis Burns
7. Wade Graham
8. Tim Grant
9. Kevin Kingston
10. Petero Civoniceva
11. Nathan Smith
12. Gavin Cooper
13. Luke Lewis

14. Masada Iosefa
15. Sam McKendry
16. Matt Bell
17. Frank Puletua

I can't see how anyone would want Luke Walsh ahead of Wade Graham. He has played the odd great game, but for the most part it's the same thing over and over and it's our kick chase that makes it look like his kicking game is responsible for points. I'm confident if Burns, Graham or even Lewis had taken 90% of our kicks they'd have similar amounts of try assists to their name.

His last game and a half for us have been nothing short of terrible. His defence is a liability, his attack is predictable and if our kick chase isn't working we're going to struggle to score points with him at halfback. When he was injured against the Doggies we looked better as a team despite having no halfback leading us around.

Against the Sharks we had Wade Graham calling the shots and he made a world of difference - he was getting quality ball to our players and they all looked better for it. But more importantly then any of that is the improvement in defence we gain by having a bigger bloke who isn't afraid to put his body on the line. Walsh can give away some of the softest tries and it's hard to make up for those.

Paulo was decent in 12 for Windsor. Laurie also returned so if needed maybe if Grant and Pritchard can't get up. We may need the impact.

Say we have neither I would go:

Petero
Kingston
Puletua
Smith
Cooper
Lewis

Burns
Bell
McKendry
Laurie/Paulo we need impact somewhere prob name both and see who trains better

Surely ME can't pick Purtell. Although I think he will remeber Purtell was going heaps worse about the Storm game and he was just moved to the wing since then has been solid enough. If Earl is picked over Purtell I will streak to Central station on Sat night It won't happen
