Great game, tension wise, if not yet top notch in terms of class. Knights will get better as their combinations begin to gel, but they look very promising. Saints showed a lot of heart keeping the Knights out and themselves in the game when they looked gone. Bodes well for the season. Pleased to get out of Newie with the two points. Just glad to have won a bloody golden point game for once!

I thought the Knights were very ordianry....attack was very one dimensional.
All the 50/50 went saints way
Knights D has a lot of work....their attitude was shocking almost....and disapointingf to see players smiling immediately after 85 mins in these conditions...they shouldve been exhausted

F*cking stoked, our first ever golden point win and what a time to do it! Both sides with plenty of improvement in them. Saints haven't lost any of that toughness & that will win them a lot of games this year. Bad luck Newie, plenty of good times to come though

Poor quality from both sides but i thought we were a shade better. Knights will come good & we have a lot of work to do

I enjoyed the game despite the result.

The Knights did well considering they were up against one of the best teams of the last few years. A few stupid mistakes to iron out but it's very early days.

First night of footy and I've already been heartbroken. It's back

Pretty good game, both sides a bit rusty. I think Newcastle have a fair bit more improvement in them. Their forward pack apart from Housten and Fa'aso (however you spell it) are alot better than that. Boyd looked dangerous but didnt involve himself enough

Mitch Rein was pretty impressive. Nightingale is awesome. Dragons pack seemed to do pretty well despite the props not being great.

I though, bar his try assist, Tahu was rubbish. I dont think him or Fein will last the season in first grade.

lol at Parra supporters carrying on about a Dean Young choke.

How desperate you must be to redistrubute that label once more.

A kick for goal to keep the season alive .....who could I be ?

Actually the redheads, Mckinnon and Edwards were good for Newcastle also.

Jarrod Mullen needs more invovlement if Newcastle are to improve.

Also, it was poor form to see Cuthbertson cheering like that, when we gave him a lifeline at the Dragons and saved his career.

Good to see justice was done

The Knights only lost in golden point and yet have an absolute mountain of improvement in them.

I reckon they're a lock for the top 8...not because they're particularly special, but in a rather average quality competition they'll be more than good enough for a top 6 spot.

Both teams will improve. Good win by Saints. If it weren't for the errors they would have put it to bed much earlier.

Plenty of rust and plenty of improvement in both sides with considering the result and the tension is a positive.

Bederus and Gidley both had hands like feet, grandpa bederus still knocked up around 40 tackles so wasn't horrible. Boyd is out of the channel 9 love den that is the broncos and also out of sydney so he must realise you do actualy need to pass the ball backwards. Always thought this would be a close one and the knights would be a work in progress for the first few rounds so no huge shocks. De Belin deserves a mention though, glad i picked him in my fantasy teams

nice. I tend to agree. It was pretty ordinary tonight and very muchof the same that we have dished up for many seasons now. But its only round 1 so no dramas...But i think us supporters expect so much from the team now that its hard to accept that Boyd, Snowden, Tahu, Buderus aren't gonig to turn us into a different team overnight. Alot of work to do, but i think we can can go pretty close.
