Out of interest with just 9 rounds and 18 teams in the comp how do they do the draw for SG Ball? Seems we have had a pretty tough one so far with the first 4 games seeing us play 3 of the 4 top of the table teams.

I don't know how they do it but there doesn't seem to be any sense to it, perhaps it is straight out of the hat. Just the luck of the draw!!

Don't you mean to say, "straight out of there ass" ... LMAO ... That's the only way I can make sense of it to be honest!

Sorry champ I couldn't resist a shot at the NSWRL!

Thanks KAB, believe he plays fullback at club level. Always has been a great little tackler even as a 5 year old. His cousin is Jarrod Sammuit (Penrith junior) - plays in the pommy super league.

I believe you will get a real look at how the CC are going over the next 4 weeks (Manly, Souths, Parramatta (would beat Manly by 20 plus points) and Newcastle. Wish them well, if they can win 2 of the 4 and then their last game they should make the quarters.

Regards
Yeah a tough draw and no bye for us all other teams we play except for the dragons have a bye. But the way the boys are going anything is possible. Just got to be injury free. The next five rounds will be interesting. Luke does play fullback he scored a beauty of a try against the dogs.

There are a lot of central coast people raving on poaching from the central coast in this forum, quite obvious that if they had a NRL side they would be able to keep there juniors there, if you are decent enough why wouldnt you sign with another club where you have a future, and no doubt this is a reflection of how the SG ball side is doing, credit to there Harold Matts side, but if they do perform what chances do they have keeping them,,,,,, chances zero, long term if they are worth it most will leave because all they can offer past this is nothing,,,,,,,,,,,

Hold up stormy77, We are talking about u15/16, 17 and 18 year olds. There is plenty of time to be signed up to a NRL club. The reason the Harold Matts is going well is probably because the players are now realizing they do not need to go elsewhere, as they get the same type of training facilties and coaches in their own backyard. Let me assure you those players that do stay in any club will be looked at by any NRL club. In regards to the Ball side alot of jnrs have come back to the coast as now they an affiliation with the Knights. But in saying that if a NRL club wishes to sign them after the Matts and Ball, thats good too. I think there things place for alot of the kids that play on the coast to stay. From what have noticed at the games there have been alot of interest in players from NRL clubs. Time will tell. Players at other clubs are not guaranteed either. ;-)

Dragons 20 - Cronulla 12

Dragons scored early with a soft try close to the line by their right winger which was unconverted. The first half was a close tussle with Cronulla's half back scoring a good individual try which was converted which had the Sharks leading 6-4 at the break and looking on top.

Ealry in the second half the Sharks were camped on the Dragons line for a couple of sets but did not really look like scoring. For some reason they don't appear to have any idea on what to do when in an attacking position with their forwards taking one up runs or the dummy half going himself - they had the Dragons shot to pieces at one stage but very poor options cost them - seems to happen every week.

After that the Sharks gave away stupid penalties or made mistakes and the Dragons made them pay by scoring a couple of quick tries.

Once again a disappointing result for Cronulla and a game they could have won but for stupid mistakes. The sad thing is that it is the same players making these mistakes every week but still get selected - hopefully the coaching staff will make changes for next weeks game - if they keep selecting the same players, who make the same mistakes then they will keep getting the same result - a loss!

That is close game for the dragons, did they rest players. Or did the sharks play well at times.

If Cronulla played smart they would have won - should have been leading 12-4 early 2nd half - had enough field position to score but as said they don't seem to have a clue when they get near the opposition line - pretty sure Dragons were at full strength

A little disappointing today at Brookey - the mags went missing in transit for the game please can anyone explain this to me, as they are always a good read.
Manly V Central Coast. The Manly Ball side looked like they changed there side around a bit, it was a slow start for them but it was only time until the flood gates open. The coast folded like a pack a cards. They where in it up until the kick off. The Coast have some good players but its ashame only some of them show up on the day. The coach must be losing his hair.
Manly v Central Coast Matts game,
A very exciting game. The Manly team started well and its was pretty tight from the whistle. The Coast let Manly team in the open 3minutes to lead the 4 - nil. The try was well excuted. That remained the score up to half time. The coast had their backs to the wall and with a few injuries starting to develop, it was going to be tough. First try would see the coast go to the lead 6-4 and that got the going and the forwards started to flow and direction from the halves developed. Manly through everything at them. but in the end another try was scored 10 -4. Then a sin bin for Manly for I think a flop, and a try followed. Manly go to guy and main defend gone Darcy Cox, their 13 . One more try followed to the flying winger Luke Sharpe and that was the end 18 - 4, to the coast.

Referees, of the 3 games I witnesses last night they all should do another career path. It was highly embrassing for the referees association. They are miked up and donmt follow through with decisions( off sides, high tackles, late tackles)

I believe this week's round in the Harold Matts will commence to sort out positions in the run to the quarters.

Western Suburbs (never say die attitude) v Penrith (comp favorites)
South Sydney (seemingly a gun side) v Central Coast (proven they are a quality competetive team)
Parramatta (full of talent, but have they clicked as a team) v Western Sydney Academy (can beat any side on their day)
Balmain (this game will answer a number of questions) v St George (competitive quality team)

My tips:

Penrith - in a real close one
Souths - due to home ground advantage
Parramatta - if they click and go for the full 60 minutes
Saints - still have some doubts on Balmain

Made it to the Raiders v Illawarra games at Seiffert Oval today. Both played in sunshine with wins to the two home teams.

In the Matts it was a scrappy affair with the two teams going try for try. In the end a single goal kick separated them with a narrow 24-22 win to the Raiders, their first of the season.

Clinical is probably the best way to describe the SG Ball game with the Raiders running in ten tries to one for a final score of 48-4. Only very ordinary goalkicking from Canberra in the first half stopped it blowing out into a cricket score.

Jono Kent, Brenko Lee and Anthony Milford ran riot and scored half of the Raider's tries. Word is that Brenk Lee will play some NYC after the junior rep season. The Raiders have all away matches for the rest of the draw, but their combinations are really clicking and they should stay in the top 8.

I believe they are still trying to schedule the missed games with Parramatta for sometime this week.
