Illawarra beat Parramatta in both H Matts and Ball easily. Illawarra have a very strong SG Ball team. Dean Young is the coach of the Illawarra Ball team and he looks to be doing a very good job. I think Dean Young could make it as an NRL coach. Rugby league is all he knows and he would have learnt well from Bennett.
Had a quick chat with the Parra staff, apparently the Eels won the Matts, just. Lost first half of Ball 5-3, and second half with both teams playing stronger teams, Illawarra got up 3-0.

Told Illawarra look very strong, intersted to see if they have players to add to their Ball side. Think they play again in the 3rd round, Eels possibly have some players to drop back from NYC.

Hi all sorry for the late response.
Friday night was the HM teams(souths V wests) I think SGBall souths got over the line by a few tries.
This week Wests play Cronulla at Minto, they will play on a brand new ground actually they will be the first to play on this ground.
I think the sharks will be in for a rude shock they played in the winter and won 4 tries to 2,however the wests side have only 4 players backing up from that game it was a very diluted squad. I think the sharks are in for a tough game.
On Aussie merit players.!! I think it is very political who makes 15s Aus merit side and who does not. I believe it is based a lot on size and reputation and of course for sure skill. I will also say just because you are a merit player does not mean you will get an NRL contract or that u are the best. Players size does matter at this age but when every man and there dog catches up in size its game on. The merit players from souths on Friday night actually got dominated by there opposing numbers and out played by guys that could not even make the local schools rep team. I will say that Newcastle seem to be the real worry I watched them play and they are very diciplined and organised time will tell.

Are they expect to get 2 easy points this week.

Not at all. Coach has just said if they haven't been able to train at 100% they aren't playing.

Most of the guys should be back in the next fortnight. Soni Hala may be another month though.

Our local academy beat Parra last week and it looks like they're not even the worst side. Doesn't say much for the HM Cup.

Yeah?

Well I was at the 2011 under 16 'National Grand Final' when the Canterbury Bulldogs smashed your Eastern Suburbs Tigers 40 - 8!

Did that mean back then I could have justifiably and unreservedly stated that your competition in QLD wasn't any good?

Keep it in perspective!

Heard Illawarra played 45 mins with 11 men on the field ..I'd say that's why the momentum swung.

Anyone who went to the game know how number 9 (Hastings) went for Illawarra?

You can do what you like champ. I haven't lived in Qld for nearly 10 years so I couldn't give a shit what you say about the QRL junior reps. I'm talking about a CRL side beating the Eels. Doesn't say much for the comp. It's not the first time it's happened either.

I'm sure Tucantango will have his own reply; but dude what you are talking about was a trial, big difference from a comp game.

Shite, if you take a trial result serious then Melbourne would be wooden spoon favourites.

Behave and close the door on your way out.

I saw most of the Illawarra v Manly match. Illawarra with 13 on the field were all over Manly and led 18-0. Mid way through the first half the Illawarra centre got sent off and Manly came back to be down 18-14 at half time. Illawarra struggled with 12 players and Manly are a pretty good team. They were physically bigger then Illawarra. The most disappointing aspect for the Illawarra team was the poor performance by rep centre Dee Jay Harris. This guy is almost unstoppable yet when Illawarra were down to 12 he rarely touched the ball. Young should tell this guy to get the ball twice in every set of six in the opposition's 20. This guy needs a rocket. Hastings is a good player, tough and vigorous. But I think he's a 7.
