Ricky Stuart quits Parramatta Eels for Canberra Raiders job

Ricky Stuart's out clause was a terrible decision.

That said, why would we agree to out clauses for players based on a coach who himself could leave at any time? Was it really the only way we could attract those players?

Now with one decision Sticky has turned our previously solid recruiting for next year into a lottery.
would be good if hayne and mannah could keep the new recruits positive about being a part of something that's gonna be good. if there was ever a point where the club needed off-field leadership from those guys it is now, assuming the noobs are considering backing out of their deals.

If we lose one player because of him the NRL should be asking questions.

Nah, it's our stupid fault for allowing a coach to be signed on such loose terms. Thanks Spags.

Add to that Hoppa as well. Thanks Spags.

The players with Ricky exit clauses is dumb too, but of lesser importance.

We really need to appoint a coach pretty quickly - any of the players with get out clauses are probably waiting to see who we appoint. And the longer we take, the longer they have to think about what they are going to do, not a good situation.

So just say Peats follows Stuart to Canberra questions shouldn't be asked???? He could have had this plans for a couple of months.

It's also our stupid fault for allowing players to sign contracts with clauses pursuant to the coach.
Thanks Sharpie.

I mean, we could blame every chairman of the board for every stupid decision that's been made until the cows come home. I fail to see how that helps anything.

Frankly, as poor as some decisions have been in recent times, we're much better served being rid of the lying pokie machine control freak moron. In comparison to that hound, we'd be best served voting Spags+cronies back in and giving them a 100 year reign.

Absolutely no questions should be asked.

Stuart could have had this plan since 1974 and no questions should be asked. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS A CLAUSE IN THE CONTRACT ALLOWING PEATS TO OPT OUT IF STUART IS NOT THE COACH

I fail to see how this should cause an uproar? It'd be massively disappointing, and Peats + Paulo are the 2 blokes I definitely do NOT want to opt out (of the 4 who could). But if he does, that's perfectly legal and nothing we can do about it.

I doubt that it could be proven.

In the big picture, Peats is a reggies rake on the cusp of a regular gig. If he doesn't want to play for us, then f**k him.

I spoke to the chairman about that yesterday at Leichhardt... I wasn't left with a great deal if confidence

Wake me when it's all over

The prick is already down in Canberra and has a still contracted to Parra Dean Pay with him talking to players. We were always a stop gap gig till Furner finally got the arse. Bloke is a lying grub. We should get some sort of compensation from Canberra if we lose a still contracted Pay and Parish.

Actually they are just as important as any other out clauses. If you have a coach with an open ended out clause don't sign players with clauses hinging on the coach.

If anything the Hopoate clause is the least important because it isn't predicated on the coach leaving whenever he wants.

No, they are just reserve graders.

Wrong, Hoppa is an elite player who should signed a water tight contract. Now we find out that he could walk if a rookie coach got the arse ? WTF ? Stupid stupid error by the then Chairman if we lose him, merkin.

If the last 3 players signed do have get out clauses like has been mentioned, and RS was always going to canberra, could he be found bring the game into disrepute??

Not likely. But he already has. Merkin of the highest order.

What disrepute?

Collins English Dictionary - Complete & Unabridged 10th Edition
disrepute (ˌdɪsrɪˈpjuːt)

? n
a loss or lack of credit or repute

1. Stuart triggers a legally binding clause in his contract. Nothing that causes the NRL to lose credit in that (RS seems to have lost some credit though, especially with small minded people).

2. Santi/Peats/Hunt trigger legally binding clause in their contracts (if they do). Nothing in them doing this that causes the NRL to lose credit either.

Just because Parra may get the arse end of something they allowed for with inept contract negotiations, doesn't make the NRL (the game) lose credit.

Agree fully emjaycee.
If we didn't want Sticky to leave we shouldn't have put the stupid clause in his contract. He has done absolutely nothing wrong. He's just followed his contract as agreed by the Eels.

Right this minute, the most important person at the club is not sharp but Peter Nolan who's still very tight with the player managers including Tyrone Smuth... If Pete walks away ( and these no suggestion he will) than we will definitely have a mass exodus at the club...
