Wake me when this nightmare is over. Surely it is a nightmare? The fact it is happening is one thing, the fact it is playing out in the media is another entirely. Disgraceful.

I'm happy with Taylor or Arthur. Shit happens with contract negotiations. For those who are playing the incompetent card, you might want to understand that sometimes deals don't come to fruition, notwithstanding the intent of the parties. If the lawyers can't agree, then it falls through. Oh well, cross him off the list.

So I'm comfortable either way. Those who were worried about Hoppa walking should be stoked BTW.

Hoppa was never walking Gronk

ANOTHER boardroom ambush at Parramatta has cost Jason Taylor the Eels coaching job, with club chairman Steve Sharp last night convincing enough directors to perform a stunning about face and support Brad Arthur.
Just a week after the Eels board voted 3-2 in favour of Taylor, a snap meeting last night delivered a majority vote for Arthur to cap off the most confusing and convoluted coaching appointment in NRL history.
It’s believed last night’s vote returned a 4-2 verdict in favour of Arthur, with a newly-added member of the board voting for the Manly assistant. Another director also changed his mind from last week’s meeting, undoing days of intense negotiations with Taylor and his lawyers.
Parramatta CEO Scott Seward had been in talks with Taylor over the past 72 hours, and it’s understood a written offer had already been extended for him to coach the side for the next two years.
More incredibly, Seward also called Arthur’s representatives yesterday morning to inform them that Taylor would be getting the job.

As a result, Arthur this week travelled to Bali for a holiday in the belief he would be staying at Manly and not required to return to work until early November.
Sharp publicly declared his support for Arthur prior to last week’s meeting, but was left humiliated when he was out-voted. He even spoke about resigning as chairman, but behind the scenes talks and deals between directors were taking place to bring Arthur back into the frame.
The push for NRL referees boss Daniel Anderson to be appointed football manager is thought to have played a significant role in last night’s backflip.
The Daily Telegraph understands the board felt Arthur would be more willing to work with Anderson, who has already discussed his possible departure from the NRL with his bosses at League Central.

It now appears inevitable that Anderson will join the Eels, combining with Arthur next season.
The only sticking point could surround the level of negotiations with Taylor and whether his lawyers accepted the job offer

Well there you go !!

And the DT seem to know exactly what happened at the board meeting!! What a joke of a board we have.

Still no announcement from the club.

I dont understand why the love for arthur. His one chance on his own with kearney was a absolute joke. He only won 2 games when in charge and any coach would have done the same.

Wow we thought 3p were a joke. Sharp just proves he is a parra man when he gets his own way. At least it took fitzy 20 years to become that way. Its only taken sharp 6 months to become a dictator

So an article is released with not one quote and everyone believes it?
I find it funny how so many people on here are quick to hang s**t on the tele, but as soon as there is something to support the argument or agenda they believe it as fact.

Our club sells papers, and gets clicks on internet pages, media will exaggerate any little story about us because it sells.

Why don't we just wait till the final announcement. There is a lot that happens behind closed doors at the club that no one really knows about, a lot of good things have happened already from this board but is sadly forgotten about so quickly from false and mis guided media reports that people choose the believe.

Well, it's almost official.

The 'to be' part worries me a bit

Happy though. Good combo with DA hopefully.

Brad Arthur is once again in the frame to be the Parramatta coach after the Eels board backflipped and supported the Manly assistant over Jason Taylor.
In another dramatic twist at a meeting on Tuesday night the board has supported Arthur over Taylor.
It is believed Arthur will be offered a three-year deal.
The move comes after Taylor seemed destined to return as head coach at the Eels when the board voted 3-2 against Arthur's appointment recently despite strong support for Arthur from the club's chairman Steve Sharp.

NRL referees boss Daniel Anderson is set to join the club as general manager of football.
Canberra-bound Ricky Stuart vacated the head coaching role after just one season. He was given the job ahead of Arthur who briefly coached Parramatta for the final six matches of the 2012 season after Stephen Kearney was sacked, winning two of his first three games.
He then became an assistant coach to Geoff Toovey, credited for instilling an edge to the Manly forward pack.
The former Melbourne assistant coach just missed out on securing the Cowboys job, with former North Queensland halfback Paul Green getting the nod after the candidates were narrowed to two. He also rejected a chance to join Salford earlier this year.

Knowing the board there will be another board meeting where they decide on giving the coaching job to Ray Price and Brett Kenny.

Yes true and we only know what we read in the media. But telling Arthur's he has missed out? Telling Taylor he has the job and negotiating terms with him, at the same time having a board meeting to vote on another candidate ? That sorta sounds incompetents.

33% (2 from 6) WITHOUT JARRYD HAYNE.

Stuart and Kearney both managed 11% without him. Anderson went 0 from 4.

Mate who cares if it's the pope who they elect.
They have a job and I won't judge them until the announcement has been made, I know a lot of past board members of not just this club but others and it's amazing the amount if stories they can go back on from media and just laugh at how far off they were.

Every business has votes to decide on decisions, often having mixed results, we aren't the only business out there or sporting club with a mixed vote (if that's actually what has happened) as a result. It's actually quite common, the only difference is our club sells papers so it's over exaggerated in the media.

..and now it's official:

http://www.parraeels.com.au/news-display/85975

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels are proud to announce Brad Arthur as the club's Head Coach for the next three seasons.
Brad Arthur returns to the Eels after a season as Assistant Coach with the Manly Sea Eagles. Prior to 2013, Arthur was an Assistant Coach at Parramatta, taking over as interim Coach for the final six games of 2012.
He also spent three years as a part of the Melbourne Storm’s coaching staff under Craig Bellamy.
Arthur, a local junior from the Parramatta district, has declared the appointment an honour and privilege.
“To return as a Head Coach in an area and a club where I played football as a young man is extremely humbling,” Arthur said.
“There is a big job to do here at Parramatta, but the club is certainly moving in the right direction.”
Pirtek Parramatta Eels CEO Scott Seward has lauded the appointment as the start of a new era for the club.
“This has been a thorough process and both myself and the PNRL Board are incredibly satisfied with this result,” Seward said.
“Brad Arthur has served a wonderful apprenticeship under the likes of Craig Bellamy and Geoff Toovey and we are confident that he is the right man to take us forward.”

Big deal. We are talking about a team who were desperate for a change.

Were you not the same clown who said kearney will be a success because he captained the kiwis at 21 and because he also had a long face.
