Perrett FB
Klemmer & O'Hanlon to be the two forwards replacing Kas & Beast.

De ja vu from last season.. Starting with a bunch of stars missing. Not good, but thankfully our forward depth is some of the best in the competition.

My team prediction is:

01. Sam Perrett
02. Mitch Brown
03. Josh Morris
04. Chase Stanley
05. Tyrone Phillips
06. Josh Reynolds
07. Trent Hodkinson
08. Aiden Tolman
09. Michael Ennis (c)
10. James Graham
11. Frank Pritchard (c)
12. Tony Williams
13. Dale Finucane
- Interchange
14. Josh Jackson
15. David Klemmer
16. Pat O'Hanlon
17. Tim Browne

I would have liked to see Lachy Burr get a run, but I believe that's the team Des will go with.

^^ nailed it.

Same team I had Des for as well thought I thought Jackson might be starting.

Yeah, Phillips isn't the winger, Thompson is.

Also, Mbye has been named as a reserve

OK so the backs are underwhelming but that isn't what I am worried about this year.

Last year our forwards copped the D far too often and were run over by so many teams, that on paper we should have trampled.

If our forwards do a solid job all year then the rest will come together.

Same as last year.. The person named in the number 1 won't actually play wing.

Last year, it was Turner named to replace Barba but he ended up back on his wing. I think Perrett will go to the wing and Thompson will play fullback.

Based on a measly one or two games given barely any notice?

Please.

He played a few games last year and was pretty well manhandled, hopefully he's bulked up a bit

Nothing has changed for the bulldogs this year from last year. Poor creativity and cohesion in the halves. Fairly predictable in the forwards. Big guys one out off the ruck. James Graham offers some passing and ball play. Missing Inu and a quality line breaking fullback. Going to be a long year.

Ok some positive things coming from last night:

  • Being the first game of year we were very rusty, but as the game got going, we started to fire up. Hopefully in the future we'll fire up from the word go
  • The referees were very hard on us and very easy on Brisbane (I'm not going to be a sore loser and blame them for the loss, but it's something I noticed)
  • We were not at full strength, Inu was a notable absentee as was big Sam
  • Klemmer is a f**king gun player. I wanted him to get more minutes. His impact was easily noticed as soon as he went on
  • T-Rex showed signs of improvement, still a long way to go however
  • Graham and Tolman were very solid, I just want Graham to offload less when the defense is bulking
  • Josh Reynolds is a gun and ignites the team well
  • I also liked Frank Pritchard standing there and giving #16 a bloodied nose - not so much the incident, but the rallying from the boys afterwards.
Top 8 team definitely if we have a full 17 out there for 75% of the season!
