While there is no excuse for the poor crowd at Robina, why oh why are the Titans constantly being given Sunday afternoon time slots.

When Sydney clubs are screaming out for more Sunday afternoon footy we are giving it to the one club that it's never going to work for.

If the Suns played today and the Titans last night the crowds would have been a different story.

5 consecutive years of crowd decline for the Tits. And you can't just use lack of success as an excuse. Year 3 and 4 when the downward slide began was their only top 8 years when they finished 3rd and 4th.

Something is wrong up on the GC.

I would be intersted to hear from Gold Coast locals how they are viewed by the population.

They seem massively on the nose.

No disrespect intended to their fans that post here either, but they seem to be the least supported team here at LU....

Yep. Relocate the broncos

Not a silly idea, but maybe not the Broncos.

The NRL really f**ked up and should've given the Bears the nod while ensuring that there was a game played in the GC once a month, such as a Broncos away game. Even with no NRL team in the GC they could've fended off the Suns.

The Titans should merge with Brisbane 2 and play 6 games in the GC

I just wish people would stop putting sports teams up on the Gold Coast, there all destined to fail whether its Soccer,League,AFL,Union

Kick the Titans out of the comp and bring in Perth.

I don't think the Titans are an attractive team at the moment for the locals. They're full of New south Welshman like Sezer, Kelly, Bird and Bailey. The biggest name queenslanders are Nate Myles and Dave Taylor ffs. If they had a player like DCE I think their crowds would be better.

The next homesick Queenslander that wants to go to the Broncos should be forced to go to the GC instead.

Barba, Milford etc

So is it just what Searle did to tradies, or are there other factors at play? What can the Titans do to get people back?

Who havnt they offended?
There name is mud through the local junior clubs.

Ill never support them while he is still involved.

Honestly its probably time to start blaming the fans for not turning up unless its a perfect set of circumstances. It might take a decade to change habits.

Fair play to those that always turn up shame on the rest

Titans CEO apologises to fans for hot day

Gold Coast CEO Graham Annesley has apologised to fans for the excessive heat during Sunday's NRL clash with Wests Tigers.

AAP
UPDATED 11 MINS AGO

Gold Coast chief executive Graham Annesley has taken a swipe at NRL scheduling, apologising to fans for the excessive heat they had to endure in their home match against Wests Tigers.

As the Titans wilted on the ground, slumping to a 42-12 defeat, a significant portion of the 12,038 fans were forced to bake in the sun as temperatures neared 40 degrees Celsius for the Sunday afternoon fixture.

The Titans had offered a special deal for fans sitting in the eastern grandstand whereby a child could enter the ground for free with a paying adult.

Unfortunately the eastern grandstand was largely in direct sunlight for most of the game and Annesley issued an open letter saying he'll take up the matter with the NRL.

"Apart from everyone's obvious disappointment with the score line today, I just want to acknowledge the oppressive conditions most of you had to endure throughout the afternoon," Annesley wrote.

"While we can't do anything about the weather, I intend to continue to take up the issue of early season day games with the NRL in an attempt to ensure this is not allowed to happen again.

"With approximately 50 per cent of all seats in direct sunlight for the entire afternoon it is clearly not fair to members or casual fans."

Annesley said it was disappointing the weather may have spoiled the day for many fans and he would be doing all he could to prevent a similar schedule next season.
