    The bloke directly above him on the list was very good. My grandfather played a little bit of cricket with him in the inner west in 1920s. Got TB (Archie, not my grandfather), died very young. The other blokes ended out being complete hacks.

    Yeh, presumably the market is vaguely efficient. Even if Gutho's form holds up or improves, the odds are that he struggles to play more than half a season as he ages. Any club in the market for his services has to factor that in very seriously.
