f**k, that is actually kinda surprising then. Should’ve been full of beans

superficially surprising but not surprising when you consider it in the context of Inu’s career- he was towards the end of his Eels stint so he was in bored low effort Inu mode, then he came to us, did superstar Inu for a year or two and got bored again…

At the end of the day Swann got the worst of it cause now that’s the first thing everyone remembers about his career. Say whatever else you want about SJ but it’ll be the clutch plays to win games or outrageous moments like this that he’ll be remembered for well after everything else is forgotten.

Funnily enough I remember exactly where I was for that 2007 game but I’ve still never watched it it to this day. I was camping on K’gari (Fraser Island) and had no TV or phone reception, and heard about the result before I got a chance to see it, so I never put myself through the frustration of...

I came over from there too. RLeague, then Legends World of Sport, then that became LU. Would've been late 99 or early 2000 when I signed up to RLeague, so coming up to 25 years now.

    The Las Vegas Thread

Warriors were a top 4 side when the sides were names so they earned it and it looks like they’re backing it with fan support. Raiders probably got a bit lucky, I’d say that the NRL likely didn’t want to send all the big draw cards at once so they picked one draw card team and one lower ranked...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

It’s pretty simple, Google maps has an inbuilt feature where you can measure the distance between two points on a map. I measured Commbank stadium for reference for a similar sized stadium to what they’re proposing, it’s 220m x 180m. then I measured the proposed site, there simply isn’t the...

That’s a very expensive bowling green

Shame it simply won’t fit in that space. Unless they reclaim most of the beach and some of the lake

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

They’re dreaming. Commbank occupies a footprint of 220x180m and what they’re proposing would need to be approximately the same size, and that’s not going to fit in that space, unless they build over the highway off-ramp in the corner which would doubtless make the build complex and expensive.

Yeah I’d much rather see him get a proper TV gig as a commentator or presenter, I think he’d go well.

Honestly I’m not sure SJ is great coaching material, he was too much of an instinctive, naturally gifted player and that’s stuff you can’t coach. There’s an old adage in coaching, “mediocre athletes make great coaches”. It’s the guys who were naturally a bit plod and had to find ways to separate...

I get what you’re saying and I agree re it not really being the old-school Kiwi way, but I also think that whole humble at all costs thing doesn’t always help us, and can get downright toxic when we start getting all tall poppy about those who don’t fit that mould. As long as Shaun is being...

    Warriors Awards 2024

Considering some of the absolute donkeys we’ve had in regards to professionalism over the years (up to and including Curran for turning up to the season review hungover) I don’t think we’ve really had much call to criticise AFB in that regard.

Yep but as much as we like the Mannerings of this world you kinda need both. As great a Warrior as Simon was, and I have utmost respect for the bloke, just retiring quietly the way he did means he doesn’t get to really contribute any more to the league community beyond his playing legacy.

    Warriors Awards 2024

At the end of the day AFB did his job and he did it bloody well all year, apart from 2-3 dud games max. His stats were exceptional measured against the entire competition. And not every player has to be a leader. I think until someone says otherwise he deserves the benefit of the doubt...

But did he really? Like what are our actual sources and evidence for this? A lot of it seems to be assumption and fan speculation, not confirmed fact. I haven’t heard players or coaches bagging him out, though I guess that might come out next season if it’s true.

    Curran

From memory last year he was often coming on later, sometimes not til the second half.
