    2024 Crowd Watch

The thing is Cronulla fans and club management should get excited. They are only three wins away from winning the comp, and the possible three remaining games are in Sydney. Cronulla are favourites against the Cowboys. Sharks fans and club management should be thrilled with playing a finals...

    2024 Crowd Watch

Congrats to Canterbury and Manly fans yesterday. Over 50,000 is bloody awesome. As someone alluded to in this thread, Canterbury are a sleeping giant. Imagine if they were a regular top four or top eight team.

    2024 Crowd Watch

Bulldogs versus Manly to play on Sunday so that it could avoid a clash with GWS was blown way out of proportion. Having a game at Townsville on a Saturday night, a favoured Cowboys timeslot made more sense. I don't think the code is running away from the other mob. You can have commonsense...

    2024 Crowd Watch

When the next tv rights negotiations comes around, I hope the NRL pushes for Saturday night/ Sunday afternoon in weeks 2 and 3. At some point the code has to be strong enough to the extent where they could forgo some tv revenue. And besides, the GF is on a Sunday, not a Saturday.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

*All NBA first team * NFL All Pro Team *NRL Dally M team of the year *PFA Premier League team of the year As an example, in the Premier League, the best players of the season are not selected in an "All England Team".

    2024 Crowd Watch

Having more people at a game doesn't necessarily mean it will have a cracking atmosphere. I've been to games where the capacity is three quarters full or close to full, but it had a rather sedate atmosphere, because the home team was getting thumped. Kinda depends with what happens on the field...

    2024 Crowd Watch

Originally AAMI Park was supposed to be 20,000. At the time of planning for a new rectangular stadium, Melbourne Victory were getting more than 20,000 at Docklands. Eventually Victory signed up as a tenant, and of course so did the Storm. However, a capacity of 30,000 is still relatively...

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

The Wallabies are the Wests Tigers of Rugby Union.

    2024 Crowd Watch

Yep. The thing is rugby league is a body contact sport, so it would be difficult to have a genuine home and away season where each team plays each other twice. So the next best thing is for teams to have proper home grounds.

    2024 Crowd Watch

Canterbury v Manly record crowd is 41,127. That was the 1995 GF attendance where the Bulldogs won and it was suppose to be Terry Lamb's final game. Can't believe it happened 29 years ago.

NRL Hall of Fame 2024 + 14th Immortal

Congrats to Ron Coote. Very well deserved. He was a player before my time. Looking into his career, Coote won 6 premierships and was named in the team of the century in 2008. To be included in the team of the century, Coote should've been an immortal more than 30 years ago. By the early...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Scaled down to 50-55k post Olympics is too generous. What oval sports events in Brisbane will attract 55k after the Olympics? Suncorp should be upgraded to around 65k, and hold annual major events like Origin, Magic Round. Wallabies, Socceroos and Matildas would use the ground too. Ideally...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

If an oval stadium in Brisbane has a larger capacity over Suncorp, then it would be placed in the Raygun WTF farce category.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

I get the feeling that Brisbane will have a new 60k oval stadium for the Olympics. But there has to be post Olympics plans. Maybe have 20k temporary seating and reduce the capacity to 40k afterwards. Oval sports don't have the content or demand for a 60k stadium in Brisbane. Suncorp is the...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

And what about post Olympics? What capacity should a Brisbane oval stadium have?

    WA BEARS

Maybe not. AAMI Park has difficulties with expanding beyond 30k.

I think what might happen down the track is all home games will be in Perth, but Norths get one or two seats on the board.
