The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Just rename the thread, "Future AFL Stadiums".

    18th club, whose next?

No need to schedule Thursday night. To complete the round, in an expanded comp, the NRL could bring back Monday nights for three games a year.

    18th club, whose next?

I was kinda referring to Nine when I mentioned one of their past CEO's and of course Gus is an employee of that network. I know people don't like it when Origin and GF is exclusively to Nine. If it was simulcasting on Kayo, Nine wouldn't pay much for the rights. Sounds like I'm in the wrong thread.

    18th club, whose next?

I think Gus said 40 or 60% of tv revenue comes from Origin and finals series. He apparently got that info from former Nine CEO Dave Gyngell. At the end of the day, the NRL has to perform a balancing act of taking care of player welfare, look after broadcasters and for the integrity of the comp...

    18th club, whose next?

In the old days, teams played 22 games, 11 at home. With the addition of Magic Round, that makes it 23 games. You can reduce rounds, as long as there is extra teams. Extra teams equates to more games per week. During origin period, you either: - keep it as it is with the comp continuing -comp...

I also hear that the Cleveland Browns use Airforce 1 thanks to a recommendation from Harrison Ford.

    18th club, whose next?

I prefer expansion to be staggered every three to four years. Sure in some seasons you would have an odd number of teams in the comp. However in the last couple of years, the comp is doing well with 17 teams.

    18th club, whose next?

Ideally the timeline for expansion should be something like: Perth Bears 2027 (18) PNG 2030 (19) Bris 3 / NZ 2 2033 (20) If PNG does come in, 2028 is too early for them.

2024 TV and Streaming Ratings Discussion

Knowing Fox, they'll probably schedule a game between two Sydney teams in the Sunday 6:15pm timeslot.

2024 TV and Streaming Ratings Discussion

I think Friday nights will stay as it is. Fox game 6pm, FTA/ Fox 8pm. Maybe a few games from Perth at Saturday 9:30pm.

2024 TV and Streaming Ratings Discussion

Perth's timezone works well for a Sunday 6:15pm game. Maybe the PNG side could be scheduled in that timeslot too, so that it could avoid the heat during the day. NZ 2 would work comfortably well at Friday 6pm and alternate most weeks with the Warriors. So when the NRL expands, it needs to...

    18th club, whose next?

Probably true lol. I guess when you have high levels of government from PNG and us involved, you'd like to think that both countries want to see this team successful on and off the field for political reasons if anything else.

Yeah it will be interesting to see how the $600 million is spent.

    They need assets too.

    18th club, whose next?

Once again, what happens to PNG after the ten years of government funding?

    Vale David Morrow

The thing with Morrow was that he could adapt from radio to tv commentary. That is an underrated art in sports broadcasting.

    2024 Crowd Watch

That was part of the 2022 world cup bid where the capacity would be 40,000.

My condolences to his family. The game is poorer from his passing. RIP David Morrow.

    18th club, whose next?

The NRL introduced the Dolphins who were an existing club in the Qld Cup and their brand name was established in Qld. The NRL probably wants another existing club in a state competition like the Bears, to be involved in a new club, but in a different city. Also the NRL would've had feedback...
