    18th club, whose next?

For many pages on expansion threads, there has been so much focus on North Sydney, with the colours, logo, games at NSO, pathways etc A question you raised is "How much money does North Sydney have"? A more relevant question should be, Can a Perth standalone club be financially viable? One of...

    18th club, whose next?

If the Bears have controlling stake, then the ARLC should not grant them entry into the competition. I don't think the Sydney clubs would agree to those conditions.

    18th club, whose next?

Mergers or stand alone have their own cautionary tales. With the mergers, both clubs haven't made a tough decision. IMO, if Kogarah isnt upgraded, then the Dragons home grounds should be Allianz and Win. The Tigers conducted a review, and it stated that the club should focus more on the south...

    The Las Vegas Thread

One possible reason why the Raiders v Warriors game is on earlier, is to attract the east coast. There's a three hour difference. In Vegas, the game will kick off at 4pm. On the east coast, the match would start at 7pm prime time.

    Perth Bears or bust?!

Yep, Steelers didn't have the dollars to survive. And tbf, they were still a young club when all hell broke loose in '95. If anything, the Steelers should've listen to local MP and board member at the time, Steve Martin. He recommended the club to go to SL. I think even Wests Illawarra wanted to...

You are probably right, and it makes sense too from Nine's perspective.

There is still daylight savings in early March. Make it 5:30am in Perth.

    The Las Vegas Thread

So the opening game of the season will kick off on Sunday March 1, 11am in Sydney, 10am in Brisbane. Is Fox happy with it? Pretty odd timeslot. And why is the women's test scheduled in between two NRL games?

    Perth Bears or bust?!

Some of us are still talking about the 90's because in that era, Perth and Norths were booted out of the comp. Now there is a likelihood that both will comeback under the one entity as possibly "Perth Bears". Also we reflect on the criteria at the time in the late nighties. Apparently a new...

    Perth Bears or bust?!

Quite staggering how a new 20,000 seat stadium wasn't taken into consideration in the criteria. Norths played their last game in '99 and six months later, a new stadium on the Central Coast was open for the.......Northern Eagles.

Next TV deal discussion 2028 -

If the women can continue to improve, as evidenced by the recent origin series, then perhaps in the future, NRLW could kick off at the same time as the men's first Origin game of the series, and not have any NRL matches scheduled. You could repeat this until the mens Origin series is over...

    2024 Crowd Watch

Good to see the Dogs back as a competitive team. Imagine if they had similar success like the Storm, Roosters or Panthers? A crowd of over 27,000 in Sydney during origin period is unheard of. And full credit to the Warriors fans too.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Penrith stadium could increase to 28,000 with a grandstand, in place of the southern hill. https://westernweekender.com.au/2024/06/penrith-stadium-capacity-could-have-been-28000-but-only-if-southern-hill-was-axed/

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Not surprised that there is only four teams with the full allocated of 12 home games. However do we want a comp where some teams have 12 home games, while others have 11 or even less? Plus a team like the Wests Tigers will have four home grounds next season- Leichhardt, Commbank, Campbelltown...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Oh yeah there was anti Murdoch sentiment. However the Steelers were still a relatively young club. They were only in the comp for 17 seasons. The last four years of their existence was impacted by SL. Sure, other clubs do establish quicker than others, eg, Newcastle Knights. But anyway, it is...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Steelers board member and then speaker of the House of Reps, Steve Martin, resigned from the club. He wanted the Steelers to join Super League so the club could survive. Instead the Steelers stayed loyal to the ARL. Meanwhile Sydney clubs like Cronulla and Penrith went to SL. Fine margins...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

If the NRL had their time again, would they have approved the Wests Tigers, St.George Illawarra and Northern Eagles? At the time, the NRL was only interested in reducing Sydney teams, instead of how those mergers were going to operate/ function.

    WA BEARS

In the red, white and black jersey, you replace white with yellow.

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

I'm not a fan of playing games at NSO. However if it's just one game, and Perth get eleven, it will be the same amount home games the Western Reds had back in '95.

    The Las Vegas Thread

Reynolds has been out for a while, and Walsh has missed a few games. Additionally, Flegler and Farnworth went to the Dolphins. But i still think they will make the eight.
