    More inept. He plays tomorrow, plays the All Star, gets a niggle in that which would see him miss the first game. Most inept would be he gets a HIA in the All Stars, but the timing won’t work unfortunately.

    This is exactly right. I would add the media as well; the prevailing thinking that you aren’t penalised unless you have hurt the opposition comes from then. if referees ruled to the laws of the games rather than to outcomes, we would have less milking.

    Yeah; Roosters were the instigators there but the NRLlove their grandstand finishes so couldn’t penalise the Roosters. I did love though that Smith forgot to call time off during that melee, so the Roosters wasted about 45 seconds at that stage.
