    NRL Salary Cap/CBA -2023 - 2027

Yeah, but PVL and Abdo need to be careful here. They have alot to lose because they run the game. The longer this drags on without a deal been done, then there is the potential for something nasty to occur down the track like a strike.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The light rail has come in. With Perth, is there enough room to build a rectangular stadium next to Optus, and have a similar precinct like Moore Park?

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

There is a football world cup currently on as we speak in our own backyard. How is the public transport faring with the event?

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

Didn't the AFL copy and paste the magic round concept from rugby league and called it "gather round"?

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

You've raised an interesting point about Mt.Smart, and it's got me thinking. If Aus/NZ bid for the men's football world cup, could each country have one city where they could have two stadiums? Like Accor and Allianz in Sydney, which is currently happening at the WWC, while in Auckland there's...

Taking the 2 late down 8

It also depends on how much time there is left for two scoring plays. If there is seven minutes to go, opt for a penalty goal. You'd still have 3 or 4 sets with the ball to conjure a try. If there is four minutes remaining, go for the try. Then after the restart, with two minutes remaining...

The parents of Sevens head of sport, Lewis Martin, must have been fans of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin. Although Sevens bid for origin, looks comical in this moment in time, especially if they partner with Fox and get it cheaply

Souths 20 Brisbane 36 That worked out well for Souths.

    The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

Of course. But did they had to play against a Qld based side like Brisbane? If for example, Souths played against Canberra on the Sunshine Coast, then it becomes 'more' of a neutral game.

The other week, Gill did say that Qld will be an AFL state within 5 years. So in tv rights negotiations, fair chance they tell a few 'stories' so they could sell their game at a higher price. Meanwhile our games administrators are naive and are instead listening to the broadcaster 'stories'...

In some ways they have to. For the 2023-2027 deal, the NRL had to scale back it's digital arm. Nine didn't want competition from the NRL in the digital space. Nine may not make a profit from NRLW, but it did force the NRL to make a sacrifice.

You are right about the first one after News relinquished, but that was the 2013-2017 deal. NRL became independent in 2012. For the 2018-2022 deal, Dave Smith stuffed up by just doing the FTA component and basically peeved off News in the process. While for the 2023-2027, PVL, in his 'infinite...

    The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

Yeah that's not quite the same. Newcastle has a team. Sunshine Coast doesn't have one. Although in time, that area could be well established under the Dolphins. Tbf, you are spot on about Souths trying to flog membership in Qld.

    The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

I don't understand the logic with Souths. They took their "home" game to the Sunshine Coast and their opponent was the Broncos. Souths "gifted" the Broncos home ground advantage. Most likely, Souths fans would be in the minority in the crowd. Souths should've taken their home game at Commbank...

Next TV deal discussion 2028 -

It looks pretty cheap, $150 million over five years, especially if it's simulcasted with Seven and Fox. Also women's origin is rating ok and most likely will go to a 3 match series. Anyway, the NRL is currently in the first year of a five year deal. Too early to sign or negotiate anything. In...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Newcastle and Win should have priority over Sydney suburban grounds because both come from regional areas. And both are also included under the VenuesNSW umbrella along with Accor, Commbank, SCG and Allianz.

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

To be fair to the Matildas, they were up against in particular The Ashes. Origins and AFL GF didn't have that competition.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The sad thing about your post is that you didn't mention the Kangeroos as a premium event. So much hype around Origin, and very little recognition around international rugby league. The game has got to change that narrative. It needs to raise the profile of international rugby league.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Australia and NZ won the bid to host the World Cup back in June 2020, just 3 years ago. At the time we were having a global pandemic too. And lockdowns were a fun thing to do, especially in 2020 and 2021.
