    The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

There's been about 4 or 5 games in Wollongong so far. One game against the Bulldogs, there was a crowd of over 16,000. So last night was the wooden spoon blockbuster played on a Thursday night. In a season where the Dragons have been rubbish throughout. Along the way, a coach has been sacked...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

I was thinking more along the lines of events that go for a couple of weeks to a month or so. But yeah, we always have the annual Origin and GF. Big European soccer teams may return next year. While with concerts, Taylor Swift has apparently sold out in four consecutive nights at Accor.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Tonight WWC begins. In 2027, there's the rugby world cup, and in 2032, the Brisbane Olympics. So three major events inside a decade. A venue like Allianz Stadium will take part in all three events. In particular they will host football matches in the Brisbane Olympics. Then you look at Accor...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Yep, just six games. Melbourne hosts two round of 16 games. No QF's or SF's. And obviously no final. AAMI Park isn’t big enough for matches towards the end of the tournament, while the other major venues in the city are oval, filled with Fumbleball. The sporting capital.....

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Canterbury is looking towards a new 45,000 seat stadium in Liverpool as part of a big project. Article was written earlier this year. https://www.urban.com.au/news/nsw/canterbury-leagues-club-seek-to-skip-liverpool-council-refusal-for-500-million-precinct-development

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

When Origin was emerging in the 1980’s, international football was still relevant, especially with Kangaroo tours after the GF. If there weren’t any Kangaroo tours, then Origin might’ve been scheduled after the GF. Origin has a strength and a weakness. It brings huge interest, but it is only...

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

As a Penrith fan, you would know that Parramatta played in the grand final last year. So a team that finished runners up, in all likelihood would have a number of players considered for Origin selection.

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

We all know that the NRL currently has 17 teams. An odd number of teams is not ideal. However until team 18 comes in, the NRL needs to improve the draw during Origin, so that it is as fair as possible. Here are rounds 13, 16 and 19. Rounds where Origin players were not available. Round 13...

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

Dead rubber or not, Origin is still a major event. A crowd of 75,000 turned up, who for the majority, supported a team that had already lost the series. Also Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne don't host Origin annually. You'll still have fans from interstate (NSW and Qld) book tickets and...

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

With Origin last night, there is no NRL tonight. However next week, it is going to be a busy Thursday night. Ashes cricket is back, plus the women's world cup kicks off with the Matildas playing. The NRL could've been smart with it's Origin scheduling. They shouldve started the Origin series a...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

What is the capacity of that upper tier? Also wasn't the other side, "The shed" done up to some degree as well? Back to Penrith, reading between the lines, it looks like they are trying to get as much value spent on the eastern and western grandstands. We will soon find out what those...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Let's see what the plans look like. It is light on details. What was mentioned in the article was more covered seating, new corporate facities and change rooms, especially for an NRLW team. The hills behind the goal posts could be replaced with one tier uncovered seating down the track, just...

    NRL Salary Cap/CBA -2023 - 2027

First 18 minutes is about the RLPA issues with Wade Graham, Aaron Woods and Anthony Maroon. Graham is switched on about the issues, whlist Maroon allows the others to talk, unlike the guys from Triple M.

Maybe Penrith's stadium design could be a mixture combination of Cbus stadium and PayPal.

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

At the very least in the next broadcast deal, have one stand alone week without the NRL. Australian heritage players who miss out on Origin, could use a Pacific test, to try and impress for selection. Or another way. The comp will expand to 18. So during Origin period, split one round across...

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

I do think long term, three stand alone representative weekends is the way to go. Not really a fan of games played without origin players. In this origin period, the season does lose momentum. What needs to happen in the next broadcast deal is go back to Wednesday, Sunday, Wednesday origin...

    Warilla Gorillas.

    2023 Blowouts

I reckon there is a lack of depth in quality head coaches. You look at Bennett at the Dolphins. One of the most improved players this year has been Jeremy Marshall King. Bennett continues to get the best out of his players. Not sure other coaches do likewise.

Adelaide Bears - Is Adelaide the right fit for Norths?

If Norths came back as Adelaide Bears, Perth Bears or Christchurch Bears with no home games at NSO (or in Sydney), then that would be sensible.
