NRL investigating international broadcast deals as competition continues

Really going for that clever deception with the opening paragraph: " So you're an NFL fan and want to follow Rugby League? Here's your handy guide to which NRL team you need to support! The world of sport has shutdown. Well almost. Over in Australia local football goes on behind closed doors...

NRL investigating international broadcast deals as competition continues

Unfortunately, on the US site this is as far as I can tell is only on the NRL page which I didn't even know existed, and is not an option on the main page's menu tab. This article isn't on the main page nor the NFL page. Plus to add in the fact NRL (and the Super League and AFL as well) are more...

    2018 Crowd Watch

I would say in every TV network in every country they have a team of analyst whose entire job is to comply data to figure out what the audience wants to watch. Hence why certain teams are favored on CH9 over other teams, and why Fox in Australia doesnt have the 6pm slot reserved for Warriors...

    2018 Crowd Watch

But if the point of the 6 pm game is keeping people on Fox for the next game instead of watching Ch9 then it makes sense to have both teams being from Australia, so two sets of fan bases are staying put on Fox.

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

That makes sense, as I've said watching baseball has become regional. Why am I going to watch the national games when they conflict with Orioles games? I can talk to you all day about the Orioles but can't say much about the Mariners, because I watch the former whenver I can, but rarely see the...

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

Thats fair, but grassroots soccer is miles ahead. In the end hockey is a middle class sport, even in Canada. I live in Southern California now, I had no idea until coming across it in passing that the Ducks were in the playoffs and still have no idea how the Kings are doing. Despite being an...

    2018 Crowd Watch

But why would Fox Sports Australia want to fill that spot with a team whose fans base won't be watching on Fox Sports Australia? Not to mention if they want to maximize the amount of fans who would stay put instead of switching to ch 9 it makes sense to have 2 Australians times more times than not.

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

Fixed your post for you. Born and bred Virginian, we don't care about hockey, even though most of our Navy parents are from the North. Even my Chicago family only cares about the Blackhawks when its playoff times, while the Bulls, Cubs/Sox, and Bears are talked about year round in the house.

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

Provided the games are at night or indoors (Atlanta, New Orleans), anywhere. Ungodly heat in the summer and freezing cold in the winters are just the reality of the US, some cities have both. Probably why we never had an outdoor sport that runs the course through the entire winter, and no...

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

Oh god no, I'm from Virginia, pretty much in July and August you open the door suck in the humidity, then slam the door and crank up the AC. I live in California know near the coast, no where near as bad (in land gets hot though). In the summer sports are played at night, but even that isnt...

    Super League 14

My preference is a 16 team league featuring the current 12 plus TWP, Toulouse, and London then one other be it Bradford, the hypothetical 2nd NA team, Leigh or whoever. Then focus on having a viable healthy, both on and off the field, stable league. In due time, allow for expansion of the league...

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

Articles about baseball dying have been written for well over a 100 years, its actually a joke among baseball fans how often the sport is dying. In my lifetime alone we've been told that the strike in 94 would kill baseball, it didnt; then it was the steroid era that was suppose to kill...

Based over you avg attendance requirements only 7 clubs from last season would qualify for SL1

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

One thing that helps the NHL get the TV money it does it that, within the US, its fan base is predominately affluent white Americans; I think I read once that, out of the traditional big 4 sports leagues, they had the largest percentage of fans who made at least 100k. Thats a gold mind for...

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

Neither of us has argued that MLS was bigger than the NHL, in fact I think we both agree that its not. The evidence you provided doesnt prove Hockey is bigger than soccer in the US. Where DC80 and I feel soccer is the bigger of the two. The only evidence I have on that is NBC in its contract...

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

He said soccer not MLS. No one would argue MLS lags behind any other national league in the US, but soccer overall is probably a bigger sports. I live in SoCal which has two NHL teams with 3 stanley cup wins between the two of them in the past 12 years, and I'd probably be able to strike a up a...

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

It already is. If done right, and this would require Fox Sports giving a crap, is could be a success. The Fox Soccer 2 go stream subscription is about to take a hit with Fox losing the rights to the Champions League after this season; its marquee event will be the Bundesliga, and frankly most...

Seasons 2019 and 2020 to start in America

Not really, you could have a 6pm start time here in LA on a Saturday, and it would be on at 1pm on Sunday in Sydney I believe. I think this would only be worth it, if the NRL can convince Fox to broadcast it nationally on Fox, FS1, or even FX. Otherwise it will be not that much better then the...

by 'not much' you mean probably the biggest sporting event in the US outside of the Super Bowl taking place where even non-basketball/sport fans are paying attention

    Hayne to the NFL???

The people of your home country voted to leave the EU, only god knows who they would have elected as Prime Minister if they had the right to vote for their head of state.
