    The Rumours Thread

I was drinking at an Eastern Suburbs bar in the late '80's, when Craig Salvatori came in with his girlfriend. I can report that while he was indeed a very good player, he was a terrible dancer.

    The Rumours Thread

My recollection was that when Bennett first arrived, he wanted to get rid of all the junior coaching staff including Price. It was the Board and management that insisted Price stay on as assistant coach. He'd gone alright coaching lower grades so it wasn't an unreasonable decision. He just...

    Round 17 - v Dolphins

Dolphins play for the full 80 minutes. We don't do that - yet. Dolphins have to start favourites but we are not without hope.

    Dragons Head Of Recruitment

It's a good question. My bottom line is that this club with its rich history, its marketability and potential for sponsorship (the big red vee), its huge area for juniors (encompassing part of Sydney, all of Wollongong, and the entire South Coast of NSW) - with all that we should be doing a lot...

    Damien Cook

Cook relies on fast play the balls from big forwards so he can use his speed while the defence is back-peddling. I wish we had forwards that can generate fast play the balls. I haven't been seeing it. Cook is a great character. What does that even mean? And the reports, where are they? I assume...

    Damien Cook

I get that, it's exactly what we were doing at the start of the season. I'm guessing Flanno has lost faith in Mulheisen and Nu Brown because we have been playing with 4 forwards on the bench lately. Results are about the same either way. Look I hope you're right, but Liddle playing 80 minutes...

    Damien Cook

Not feeling any joy. In 2025 we will have four players whose best position is hooker (Hunt, young Flanno, Liddle, Cook). We are potentially letting a 33 year old still playing good footy (JDB) to bring in a 32 year old not playing as well as he used to. Where is the progress? People are saying...

    The Rumours Thread

I'd rather live anywhere but Sydney but a lot of young people think it's great. I don't have an issue with moving everything to Wollongong, but the club needs to implement strategies to make it work better. Players aren't going to move to Wollongong for a 1 season contract, so it's got to be...

    The Rumours Thread

I've always felt it was an issue. How big an issue is hard to quantify but I'm sure it's there. Yes Wollongong is a great place to live, and for someone starting their career or on the last-chance roundabout it's probably not a problem. But if you're an established first grader, with only a 2...

    Damien Cook

I'm not thrilled. Cook was always a one trick player. He was and is reliant on big forwards getting quick play-the-balls, so he can utilize his speed out of dummy half. Trouble is teams are awake to this now, he's slowing down, and he'll be waiting a long time to get a quick play the ball from...

    The Rumours Thread

Well that would be a "massive" signing.

    Round 15 - v Manly

Manly are a tougher proposition than the Tigers. They are very good at spinning the ball out wide both ways to create space for their speedsters. Their forwards are as good as anyone's when they're on. Their gun halfback is better than our gun halfback. They are inconsistent, but then so are we...

    Round 14 - v Tigers

Very happy with the win. Two wins in a row, 2 more competition points, big lift to our for and against. A good start to the weekend.

    Round 13 - v Panthers

Lawrie did his bit in defence. 25 tackles, plus he added to Panthers fatigue by virtue of how far they had to run to get around him. Not at all dynamic in attack unfortunately. He used to charge onto the ball, but now he seems to have lost what little pace he had.

    Round 13 - v Panthers

Very satisfying win. First half was lacklustre, which I reckon was down to nervousness of the new players as much as anything else. Flanno might have told them to relax and loosen up at half time, but whatever he said Marschke, Feagais, Couchmans, Finau, all went a lot better after settling into...

    Proposed NRL Expansion

Not thrilled with the expansion because I think a PNG team will struggle to attract players and sponsorship, and will therefore be an on-going financial drain for many many years to come. I assume the money comes out of the Australian foreign aid bucket, and would probably go to PNG in some way...

    Round 13 - v Panthers

I'd have to look it up too David. Might do that later in the day. There are some referees we do better with for reasons unknown.

    Round 13 - v Panthers

I like the team changes. I'm looking forward to seeing Marschke and young Flanno combine, because I reckon they have the potential to go well, and confirm we don't really need Hunt. I know the Couchmans can rip, tear and bust, just need Flanno to give them enough minutes to show that. Not so...

    Round 13 - v Panthers

I'm hoping Marschke gets a run. He seemed to bring a fair bit of energy on the few times he was allowed on the field.

    Round 12 v Bulldogs

Possibly, possibly not. In any case if Flanno has to use new players because others are on origin duty, that's not the same as dropping players for poor performance.
