    Flanno's New Signings

I don't think it matters. Amone's form last year wasn't compelling. Old Flanno has been talking about young Flanno going to 5/8, and buying Manu or Dearden, so I don't think he wants Amone. He has a contract for 2024 but nothing after that. I doubt he's on big money and it will be up to the...

    Flanno's New Signings

Corey Allans a decent first grader, and in my opinion a better centre option than Bird. I'm a bit surprised that no-ones signed him up. I'd pick him but I doubt Flanno would play him over Bird.

    The Rumours Thread

Sounds fair and reasonable. I'd be happy with 1 and 3 with the rest to follow in due course.

    Flanno's New Signings

After Hook used his authority and responsibility to contract a bunch of Queensland hacks, maybe the Board decided they needed to exercise a little more control.

    Flanno's New Signings

Good. We might pick up 2.

I'm getting thirsty just looking at it.

Oh I still think we're a chance, but it might have to be a lot more cash. But I hope we have a Plan B because we may not get Dearden and we still have a captain looking to scarper at the earliest opportunity.

    Flanno's New Signings

I just hope there's a plan B. I personally think it's unlikely we'll get Dearden. We may be a chance at snaring Manu or AFB, I don't really know. But our club often seems to get out-gunned whenever we're linked with a star player.

    Flanno's New Signings

I feel sad for the player. Gould, not so much.

    The Rumours Thread

You may scoff if you wish. But when I last worked in an office the best rumours came from the bloke who emptied the bins next to the management photo-copier. I doubt my cousin has that level of access, but like I said she's more likely to hear stuff from the Cowboy's point of view than you or I.

Makes a lot of sense. They won't even have to change the name on the locker.

    The Rumours Thread

From my cousin who works as a part-time cleaner at Cowboys Leagues in Townsville - we won't get Dearden. Cowboys are working on a deal whereby they can increase his payments over a few years without breaking the back-ended contract rules. There is an in-principal agreement in place already. It...

    The Rumours Thread

I'm hoping he's a Jeremy Latimore type signing. Big body, good trainer, works hard, and manages to occasionally whack an opposition player in the goolies.

    The Rumours Thread

Yeah maybe. Yes a coach can make a big difference but you still need the cattle. Wayne Bennett got a major improvement out of the Dragons in 2009, but he didn't do it by relying on the same team from 2008. He brought in Darius Boyd, Costigan, Jeremy Smith, Weyman, and Nathan Fien. Flanagan has...

    Twiggys with us

Better make that iron ore. I don't think Twiggy owns any coal mines.

    Twiggys with us

It's odd, but just having Twiggy Forrest's name associated with St George, somehow makes it feel like a much more professional outfit. I never got the same vibe when the Gordon's bought in. How it all pans out in practice we'll just have to wait and see.

Maybe he does. There's a St George Terrace in Perth, and a crazy clock where St George comes out and slays the Dragon.

    Twiggys with us

That is very good news. Clearly the club still looks good to big business. And being sponsored by a renewable energy company, we should get the wind at our backs and the sun in the oppositions eyes.

    The Rumours Thread

Thing is though, you wouldn't expect better performing clubs to make a lot of signings. They've gone OK this year, they just need to tweak their roster a bit. But you would expect teams that failed to look at making changes. Dogs decided their roster wasn't good enough and have been buying big...
