    18th club, whose next?

Crusaders averages are about 16,000. Lower than they were when they had the purpose built Christchurch stadium, right now though they're still a big draw. So are their feeder clubs Tasman and Canterbury. The only benefit an NZ #2 team might get is that by 2025 the new Christchurch stadium...

    18th club, whose next?

I just think the sheer monolith that is the Crusaders is too hard to topple. They're too successful.

    18th club, whose next?

The Perth travel argument isn't very good. Literally every other major sport has made it work. Rugby, AFL, Soccer, Cricket, Basketball, Netball. That the poorer than poor West Coast Fever can manage it but the vastly richer NRL couldn't is laughable. A second NZ team, especially in the South...

    18th club, whose next?

To really understand just how much the AFL invests into development in Queensland in particular, since 2016 Palm Beach Currumbin State High have won senior and junior championships every year in the AFLQ Cup. They're also a dominant Rugby League school. Just in the Gold Coast alone we've got...

Why do merged clubs perform so poorly?

This is just straight wrong, it's the City of Gold Coast. Not the "Gold Coast region". https://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/Home

    18th club, whose next?

V'Landys is a bad leader. Greenberg and Beattie tried to make changes, any time they did they would cop endless beat ups from 9 and News Corp. V'Landys has not had a single negative article about him from either of them. That doesn't make Greenberg good, but goddamn any time he did anything News...

    News Coronavirus and NRL

Pretty much, the majority of them are that kid we all had in school who used to think that arguing with the teacher was going to magically make school not happen.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

It really is one of the weirdest identities in Australia, the 5 million person city known around the country for not supporting their sports teams.

    18th club, whose next?

Steelers were definitely influenced by the NFL. The original logo had a bloke wearing an American football helmet and shoulder pads.

The AFL own the Docklands Stadium. It helped them get through Covid because they had a tangible asset worth hundreds of millions to put up as collateral when they applied for loans.

    The Bears

While I'm quite openly a Rugby fan, it is worth pointing out that Moana Pasifika was born out of a combination of high profile Pacific Islanders with big bank accounts and the NZ Rugby Union who have basically spent decades taking the best Tongan and Samoan players for the All Blacks which has...

    News Coronavirus and NRL

Not sure if League has more Islanders than Rugby. Either way though, that would be the freaky deeky religion at play. No idea why Islanders seem to get sucked in by that shit more than other people.

    News Coronavirus and NRL

It's just V'landys being a bitch. He's a Murdoch stooge and Murdoch makes money selling division. It's no secret that the endless positive coverage he gets from the Murdoch press when all of his predecessors were dragged through the mud on the daily is because he's part of Rupert's purple...

    The Bears

It's actually an odd situation. I was a Reds fan in the 90's (admittedly a child) because my dad was one of the corporate backers who supported Laurie Puddy (the joys of Fremantle shipping yards having forklift contracts). When the Reds left my mum had been a huge Sea Eagles fan despite being...

    The Bears

It's not my preferred choice but I'd be okay with the Perth Bears. My WA parochialism would kick in for sure. That being said, the Bears just kinda suck ass.

The Game 2022 Jerseys, Sponsorship, Logos etc

Other clubs need to do whatever it was we did to convince the sponsors to ditch their own colours. We don't exactly have massive bargaining power to laud over them, so it appears the other clubs are just either letting the sponsors dictate to them or they're getting paid more to not colour match.

    Keegan Hipgrave

Wait, Hipgrave was 24? I thought he was 34. Jesus, that bloke is not going to age well.

Honestly if Australia is going to have an ugly Gallagher on the jersey can it least be one people recognise?
