Harold Matthews and SG Ball Discussion Thread

Both coaches are good, theres no doubt about that. Grant has done his time climbing through the junior ranks and Brad had a couple of strong seasons at Matts then Ball. I think Brad was unlucky not to keep his job in 2011 in the first place. Probably unfair to say if they are better or worse...

It will be interesting to see how they react cos I believe Atko and the matts coach Adisson are highly rated coaches

It will be interesting to see where they lay the blame this time. Penrith Junior reps is not known for it' stability. There have been lots of new coaches each year with only one recent success (2010) It would be a pleasant surprise if there was some stability and they let each coach have at...

Harold Matthews and SG Ball Discussion Thread

Sounds like someone trying to start a nasty rumour here. I was at the Penrith Ball v Perth game and you could tell by the body language after the first try at about the 15 minutes mark (just after the long injury break) that Penrith thought they could cruise to victory. I would suggest that...

Will Matt Elliott leaving at seasons end mean anything for the Junior Rep structure? Will any of the lower coaches get promoted or will they get cleared out?

Matts have hit some form and turned their season around. They have never been outplayed even in losses

I wont deny the academy coach has done a good job, he certainly hasnt done a bad one. They are competitive. I STILL think it unfair to have a go at Coach Atkins based on one game, thats all I am saying Stretch. I suppose I am sticking up for Atko

Exactly, Atko did very well to win the comp. I am not so sure that NEARLY being beat by the Academy proves he was out coached. The Academy havent had a great year either, maybe Penriths players took it a bit lightly. Im sorry stretch but I think youre clutching at straws a bit

Bit unfair those comments stretch, brett atkinson did win a comp after all and I suppose he still managed to win the game at the weekend unlike the Penrith coach two years ago. How did the Matthews game go?

Can anybody list the names of junior players from Penrith who would be playing Matts and Ball now if they were not in other districts?

I stand corrected on last year, just double checked. You are right. Sorry for that I think in most years 10 is ok. I suppose it depends on who takes points off each other above you etc etc Souths is definitely a big game for the Matts!

10 points is always enough for teams to get into the top 8 in junior reps. 12 points means certain and creeping towards top 4, 10 tends to do it. Even if Penrith lost to Souths, I would still be confident of making the 8 with a bye to come in the last round

I think they still look ok but crucial errors at crucial times have proven costly. I wouldnt quite call it a rut but it defnitely isnt the start they wanted. They have improved each week. Both SG Ball and Harold Matts can comfortably make the top 8, they have both had a tough start to the...
