New Garner tactic - corpse it when you hit the line.

Panthers realising Garner is a poor man's Joe Picker rather than a poor man's Kikau.

So getting smashed is a penalty now. Egan just became a top 5 hooker.

    2nd Test: New Zealand v England @ Wellington Feb 24-28, 2023

And we're rolling with the same 13 for Sri Lanka. NZ staff have learnt nothing and are happy to use a once in a century outcome to bury their heads in the sand.

I love the follow on and despise follow on phobia. Hard to see any team would with all the factors these days though.

I think we deserve the sportsmanship award for getting within 2 wickets while carrying Bracewell.

This is why you don't go into a test with three bowlers.

Surely that's Blowtorch Bracewell done for the innings.

Might be time for Blundell to go back to being a specialist batter - he's constantly being stranded with the tail and we're losing runs while he's in an immense run of form. Surely we could find a keeper who'd also be a better bat than Nicholls and Young.

We've left 20-30 really valuable runs in the bank there too. Braces belongs in the pub leagues.

    2nd Test: New Zealand v England @ Wellington Feb 24-28, 2023

They've still dictated 6.5 out of 7.5 days in the series so far. I don't see anything here to force a rethink - but it should raise some alarm bells about how quality teams can stand up to bazball and play their own game with success. England's saving grace is there aren't many good test teams...

How ridiculous do Latham and Nicholls look now. Out reverse sweeping to Leach, while Southee is just pumping him with proper shots lol.

    2nd Test: New Zealand v England @ Wellington Feb 24-28, 2023

I think we've fallen into the trap of playing to England's tempo, although we've ended up stuck in no man's land. It's gotta be tough mentally to see them score 435 in 3 and a half sessions and then realise it's going to take you 5 sessions of quality batting at a standard 3rpo to match them...

I was at the ground when Voges went big at the Basin. This is eerily similar, bowling attack is definitely deja vu.

There is something charming about our cricket team being stuck in 80s and 90s provincial parochialism. Then they take the pitch and reality sinks in.

    2nd Test: New Zealand v England @ Wellington Feb 24-28, 2023

Yup on this pitch I don't think a spinner is going to come into it - maybe in the 4th innings. Even then Bracewell is never going to be the type to bowl you to victory. Wagner at almost 37 just can't bowl 15-20 effective overs in a day anymore. What a workload for Southee and Henry.
