    The Rumours Thread

Exactly! Anyway, I had a look at the player lists for 2023. Panthers and Dolphins only have 25 listed players as well. Manly and Knights 26. Roosters and Eels 27. I'm sure we are a preferred destination for a player off contract than any of those other sides.

    R 1 2023

Who cares! Seriously! They probably drew the numbers out of a hat and it's just the luck of the draw. Sick of all the "Oh woe is me" stuff before the season even gets underway

I reckon going back to the Tigers will give Woods a new lease of life. I can see him going OK there, unlike here where he is just earning a wage.

on a Brighter note, BEN CREAGH

I don't know this. It is just my opinion based on how the Board operates and my perception of Ben Creagh. I really hope I am wrong too.

on a Brighter note, BEN CREAGH

Seriously? Ben will just be another yes man on the board. I take no joy from this decision.

Losing more of our young guns.

After all the garbage from the last few weeks, finally a good news story. Good onya Tyrell, and well done Webby & Elliott.

    New recruits for 2023

You're right, I'll try and be more positive. He'll go better than George Burgess has. Coming from Wests Tigers he should be able to car pool with Jacob Liddle, even if his license is suspended again. He hasn't had trouble with the police since 2021. It's all upside really.

    New recruits for 2023

So now we're hiring rejects from the wooden spooners?

Losing more of our young guns.

I read it as $1M over the three years, but even so that's seriously good money for anyone, including a promising junior. Prior to signing I'm sure he received plenty of advice from his manager, his parents, his mentors, his friends etc. There's no way he would have signed the contract without...

    New recruits for 2023

I'd like to go on record here and say that I never used brainwashing to make my daughter a Dragons supporter. Bribery yes, brainwashing no.

Fair enough and you're probably right. Fortunately we haven't lost gun players like Aaron Woods, George Burgess and Andrew McCullough. Our future is secure.

    The Rumours Thread

Surely you're not suggesting all is well? We struggle to attract good players, we fail to retain good players, and at least some of our juniors see a brighter future elsewhere.

    The Rumours Thread

Not so sure. Titans got rid of their most experienced half (Fogarty) and went backwards. Newcastle got rid of their most experienced half (Pearce) and went backwards. You run a risk unless one of your halves has the right level of experience. Two young halves could be a recipe for disaster.

    New recruits for 2023

Have it your way, but he's not a turd in my book. The press approached him and he gave them an honest response. He was prepared at one time to put his own money in to buy a stake in StGI, it was more than WIN offered at the time, and for some reason his offer was knocked back, so he's no longer...

    New recruits for 2023

How is he a turd? He offered big money for a share in the club and it was turned down in favour of a smaller one from WIN. Sour grapes maybe, but Paul Smith isn't the turd in this scenario.

Have no fear. Our coaching team will soon de-skill him.

Dear Ben, time to sign the contract

    Only $500k? Hire that man!

Dear Ben, time to sign the contract

Who knows what Ben Hunt's new contract is? I presume it's $900k per year but that's a best guess. If you can believe Zerotackle, Cherry-Evans is on $1.2M, Luke Brooks is on $1.1M, Mitchell Moses $950k, Jarome Hughes $900k and Luke Keary $850k. Whatever Ben Hunt is on, it looks like that is what...

Dear Ben, time to sign the contract

Who will be captain if Ben Hunt leaves? I vote for Tyrell Fuimaono.

    The Rumours Thread

I can think of a couple of reasons why Tigers might have more appeal. By bringing Sheens back they at least look like they might have a plan to build towards something, whereas our plan seems to be pay big money to favourites, hire journey-men, and stymie junior development. Also if you come...
