Match Discussion: Round 14 vs South Sydney @ Stadium Australia

They both need to kick. You need 2 options, so that your main kicker doesn't get swamped (with the exception of world class halves like Johns, Thurston, Cronk - who could generally manage to do all the work). Pearce should be second fiddle with the boot, though - especially in the red zone.

    Did you ever doubt it?

Match Discussion: Round 14 vs South Sydney @ Stadium Australia

Yep, this is true. I don't disagree with you, I just think we're damned if we do, damned if we don't with blokes like Tex Hoy shitting it up in the team. You'll get no arguments from me that our coaching staff leaves a lot to be desired, and has a lot to prove to convince me that they are the...

Match Discussion: Round 14 vs South Sydney @ Stadium Australia

Yeah, this is something that probably isn't going to change much, because it's a coached thing. Having said that, I think we did actually give it a bit of a crack early on last week, and completely made a meal of it. We just don't have the talent out there to entertain it at the moment, even if...

    2021 R14 Sat - South Sydney 24-10 Newcastle @ Stadium Aus

We've got around $4-5 million of salary cap on the sidelines. Granted, we're a fringe 8 team even with them, but Souths played a reserve grade side tonight. They should have won by more. There's not a single Knight on the field today that's even close to the same league as an Adam Reynolds or...

Match Discussion: Round 14 vs South Sydney @ Stadium Australia

I'm not saying they'll get the biscuits at the end of the day, but I think there's a bit of belief growing there over the past few weeks - and if you inject a good chunk of our salary cap back onto the field, I think you'll see a different team running out there. Replacing Hoy for Ponga on its...

Match Discussion: Round 14 vs South Sydney @ Stadium Australia

I agree with this, but you need someone organising it too - and giving blokes a rev up when they're not doing it.

I've got some confidence that they're going to rip in and have a crack at making a run. I don't know what comes of it, it's probably going to be too little too late... but yeah it's nice to just look forward to watching us play again. I'll take that after the past 2 months.

I'm quietly confident we'll see improvements there just based on the troops returning. We might slide back into "give it to Ponga" early on, but hey... give it to Ponga is actually miles better than what we've had lately.

Yeah, we can build on that very much with Pearce, Ponga, Hunt and Klem hopefully back next week. I just hope they can blow the cobwebs out quick, because 3 of those 4 haven't played much footy in a fairly long time now.

Haha Lattrell is completely cooked. What a weapon, though.

Hoy actually did well twice in a row there. Credit where it's due.

And Hoy kills a very promising movement.

Match Discussion: Round 14 vs South Sydney @ Stadium Australia

Getting the right balance between him and Pearce over the next 12 months is going to be key. It's obvious to everyone who our primary kicker should be. I think Pearce will add a lot in organizing our shape and obviously just doing what he does, running the ball, some service/passing and revving...

Match Discussion: Round 14 vs South Sydney @ Stadium Australia

To be fair, AK47 and Tolar were our first choice starters. We're miles ahead of those days. What's really incredible is that Brian Smith was able to coach that team into a competitive outfit. Exciting to watch to boot.

For sure, but don't underestimate the value of getting Hunt back, either. Klem and Ponga speak for themselves.

That contingent will help us massively. All 4 of them are like gold to us right now - especially for who they can replace in the team.

Agreed, I didn't think he'd get back for that but he kept pumping. His effort has been first class, but I do think he needs to increase his fitness. He's looking like Guerra used to towards the end of a match. Totally wiped.

He's not quick or elusive enough for oztag. Maybe netball or golf or something. Should probably try picking up a surfboard.

We don't have any backs to take a hitup. Best gone, Young gassed, Mann and Tuala terrible and invisible. Hoy is Hoy - which is potentially the biggest insult I could level at any of them.
