"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

When the Cowboys, Broncos and Storm are going well, rugby league is going well. Add Adelaide and Perth and it will be even better.

Broncos, Storm and Cowboys are much bigger draws on a national scale.

Look at the geographical size and then compare it to the population. Macarthur is a region in the south-west of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The region includes the local government areas of the City of Campbelltown, Camden Council and Wollondilly Shire. It covers an...

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

It's a massive double standard to deny Ipswich, Logan and Moreton Bay from fielding their own teams while having the Penrith Panthers, Parramatta Eels, Canterbury Bulldogs, St George Illawarra Dragons, Cronulla Sharks and Manly Sea Eagles running around. The fact the QRL has left Logan...

Didn't the WARL have 10k registered players in the mid-1990s? There would probably be 20k to 30k players based in WA if the ARL had have stuck with the Reds and invested in the local competitions.

The 2016 Census lists the population of Macarthur as 309k. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macarthur,_New_South_Wales Logan had 303k. https://quickstats.censusdata.abs.gov.au/census_services/getproduct/census/2016/quickstat/LGA34590?opendocument

Logan is growing and is bigger than Macarthur. Moreton Bay Region is growing and I way bigger than Macarthur. Perth has 2m people. Why should a region of Sydney that has 310k people have its own team when Logan has 326k people but no one talks about putting a side in it? Logan produces more...

    Brisbane Jets

You've got to love the double standards of the QRL and RL administration from Ipswich. The Lions @ Springwood Social Club was created around a decade ago and invests some of the money they make from pokies in the Springwood Pumas AwFuL club. You never see these selfish pricks mention this...

Weren't all or most of the VFL clubs from inner-city suburbs? NSL fans didn't have a problem adopting Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers. Up to 35k BRL fans adopted the Broncos in the early 1990s. Titans have more fans than Chargers, Seagulls and Giants. I don't see any reason why fans of...

NRL's growth mindset points to 18th team. And it ain't Perth.

If we want to attract sponsors from the big end of town, especially foreign companies, we will need to have a presence in all 5 metro markets. It's of no coincidence that the smaller Sydney teams struggle to attract big name sponsors, whereas Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and even North...

NRL's growth mindset points to 18th team. And it ain't Perth.

We probably need another four or six teams to adequately cover every major market across Australia and New Zealand, but we lack the resources needed to support a 20 or 22 team competition. There will be no rationalisation of Sydney, which means expansion markets like Adelaide and Perth will...

What would happen if the Tigers and Bulldogs were replaced with a well run and successful club with a neutral brand that covers Canterbury in the inner-west to Macarthur in the south-west? Could it be successful like the Western Sydney Wanderers?

NRL's growth mindset points to 18th team. And it ain't Perth.

If the ARLC introduced a Perth-based NRL team and exposed as many children to it by running clinics at primary schools and getting the game played in state schools and universities, there's no reason why Perth couldn't have 30k registered players by 2050. Kids can only support a sport if it's...

    2021 EF 1 Sat - Sydney 25-24 Gold Coast @ QCBS

If the tackle is dominant or voluntary then the defender can hold on longer.

    2021 EF 1 Sat - Sydney 25-24 Gold Coast @ QCBS

This is corruption. Ref allowed Turkeys to hold down illegally in the tackle all match, then awarded them a field goal from an illegal block. Queenslanders need to boycott the rest of the final series so that these cheats take a hit in the hip pocket.

Go Titans. Let's hope the officials finally give them a fair go. Usually they get all the bad calls. If NRL rips them off, like they did in 2016 in that game at Lang Park, then Queenslanders need to boycott the rest of the series.

That will not benefit the game. Just give the licence to Easts Tigers so they can become the Brisbane Tigers. The 17th and 18th licences can then be given to Perth and NZ 2 so we can add new timeslots for the extra game.

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

ARLC really need to think about bolstering the state leagues and junior competitions, as that's where AwFuL pump their money and it's drawing kids to their game. A good start would be to upgrade the facilities of Queensland Cup teams so that they provide a comfortable viewing experience that is...
