    Golden Point in Super League

thanks for the clarification in Seppoish:sarcasm: Though I hate draws (seems like both loose), they really are a more accurate portrayal of the results of the match. Though I can't see it being done in Rugby (either code) I do like the way they have been handling ties in college football...

    Golden Point in Super League

golden point? (excuse me for my ignorance) What exactly is this? Is it just when a team late in the game (or half) takes a drop goal from open play, earning 1 point (in RL)?... You can not take drop goals in European Rugby League? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but my only RL exposure is...

Mystery benefactor to revive grass roots XIII

yes, thanks for the translation job. what is the deal with their stadium? Would it not be much easier to work out a ground share agreement with the RU side who have an excellent venue? I had heard that they (RU) in Toulouse are much more accomodating of RL then they are in Perpignan, where...

Mystery benefactor to revive grass roots XIII

I know the talent isn't around for that many, but gee it would solve some problems. While it "would solve some problems" (people being upset, and hurt egos...), it would no doubt "create new problems" due to the lack of depth... (weak sides, lopsided scores... leading to lower gate turn outs...

Catalans heading for 3rd win in a row.

thanks for the updates! VERY good news.:p

    Another great win for Catalans

If I'm correct, isn't this the first time they've ever beaten the Quins? I remember hearing last year (when they lost to the quins 3 times) that they were THE ONLY SL club that the young french club had failed to beat. They have even succeeded in winning 2 games on the road this year, and...

How league can become a bit more popular

being a catalans fan, I'd love to see them win this one. Last year Quins were the Dragon's bogie team... never did beat them. I think for their own self esteem/spirit, they NEED to win this one.

Mystery benefactor to revive grass roots XIII

This is what "babel fish" has for a translation... (these things can be comical for their translations sometimes, others, can be utterly unintelligible... ) The vice-president of CAHORS, Bernard BALDY, took the tete foundation WORLD RUGBY for the memory and the revival of Rugby has XIII...

    Duel code rugby clubs?

for you AMNRL folks out there on the east coast.... who do you folks get to ref your matches? Does the AMNRL have a RL refferees certification course that they could offer if say some group of RU clubs wanted to start a local grass roots summer competition amongst RU clubs... Nothing...

Sunshine Coast - Feeder team for Manly and set for QLD Cup entry in 2009?

interesting... would such a stadium be up to the modern expectations of future NRL stadiums? I would think as others have mentioned, that a 4th Qld side in the NRL would be in the makings if they could have a stadium. With the sea eagles working on developing local juniors, and a strong...

NSW Cup vs Jim Beam Cup?

I'm aware of the NRL (obviously), but I am unfortunatly quite ignorant of the levels of competition below that... What is the difference between the NSW Cup and Jim Beam Cup? Which is the more important and higher level of competition? How do these compare to the "Toyota Cup" which has...

    Skilled Park's Debut...

OK, the much antisipated first regular season match at the Skilled Park. How was it. I've been looking for any reports. How was the atmosphere? Did it live up to it's high expectations? Any transport problems? From what I've seen, this could be one of the greatest small venues for rugby...

How league can become a bit more popular

you could almost see a competitive "state of origin"-style annual series held between the two countries, and that would get some decent media coverage if timed right. Bartman, this is a great idea. Give the Frogs a few years to build up strength (in quality experienced players and fan...

    Duel code rugby clubs?

Omaha Nebraska. Cornhusker born and raised! Saint, what's the inside scoop on RL in the windy city? Problem with the insurance, is I'm sure it could be done, but to do so would be too costly for the "working man" to afford, and it is these same people were talking about... a real catch 22...

    Before professionalism began in Union....

Love those stories of "shamiturism"... players getting new boots for each match, which happened to have a wad of bills misplaced in the toe... jobs guarding empty wharehouses and it doesn't matter if you show up or not... pretty sorry. These things used to happen here in the states with...

    Duel code rugby clubs?

very true... I could see that last scenerio happening... IRB funding for developing nations is crutial. Subsidies for World 7s series, world cup, sponsorships for the NA4 series, arainging tours... They could put pressure on England to stop their mentorship with USA / Canada in the Churchill...

    Duel code rugby clubs?

DP, I read that post ( I believe on American Rugby News) as well... What he was talking about is the fact that USA Rugby offers NO insurance to players for injuries they sustain while playing rugby, only liability for the club, and owners of the pitch/park. So when I tore my ACL playing...

    Duel code rugby clubs?

I don't see this happening world wide... but in "virgin" territory as DP put it, why not... 7s, 9s, 13s, 15'.... All rugby, why not have one administrative body, with one liability insurance, one of everything... allow clubs to field what ever they want... Imagine if we had the top US...
