Easts and Souths should join together

I am heartily sick of this rivalry year after year after year. Souths and Easts should join together and make one super team. Just think of the team we could make with all the Eastern part of the Sydney region. In fact I have just the name and colours for the new team. Come on the Stallions!!!

They loved to do cartoons around that time- here is one from a famous cartoonist from RLN with a Saints/Souths game. Wishful thinking 1971 1949

    Newtown history.

Hi again. This is for a person who knew and another who was related to the Bradstock brothers who played for Newtown around the early 70s.

    Bradstock Brothers

No worries- there is a thread lower down on this site where it says NEWTOWN HISTORY. There are a few minor bits in there but towards the end I will post some interesting things from 1973 and some great pictures from that year about Newtown. The poster from 1973 looks great.

    Bradstock Brothers

Hi I have a collection of RL stuff- mainly Souths but have some Newtown. I have some programs/ newspaper RLWs from the early 70s. I had a quick look and have a photo with all the Newtown club together in 1973 when they won the club championship and also one nice photo of the team with the...

    Frank Threlfo

I heard on another thread that Frank Threlfo had died. He was a Souths player from the 1950s and played in the 1953 premiership. I would like to pay my respects to his family and would like the South Sydney community to show respect to our great past players.

    My 1929 Red V jersey

Wow I am impressed- where did they get it from? I would love to get a Souths jumper from the same period, but Souths jumpers never really changed from 1905 till 1973 except for a couple of short lived ones. I presume you have seen this picture on the other thread.

Gold Coast face a titanic task in fixing up Coaltrain Dave Taylor

I hate to say it but, although I loved the bloke, I think we have the better deal. maybe he will develop into a champion , maybe not.

    Newtown history.

To celebrate NEWTOWN making the grand final this year ( I will be going with my daughter as my wife bought tickets thinking Souths would make the grand final) and with my one and only Newtown jumper cheering them on, I thought I would dig out of the collection a semi final Newtown won against...

I am proud of our team.

That's just lovely. I have a fellow teacher at school who has a 4 year old and he thinks Souths always wins more than they lose. Anyway I have been a supporter for 40 years and this year was the best for me.

    How Far Can We Go?

I agree- I just wanted to win ONE semi and I would be happy. I will feel much more relaxed this week and enjoy the atmosphere- that is until we are ahead by 2 with 12 minutes to go
