The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

In actual stadium news, new Christchurch stadium coming along nicely.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

It's bad enough every thread in the expansion forum is just a Perth trolling fest, now they have to infect the main board too.

    2024 Crowd Watch

They seem to do weird things selling tickets in advance. Their home game against the broncos has had nothing but wheelchair access seats available since the start of the season yet they haven't released the middle or top tier seats for sale.

    2024 Crowd Watch

I remember a time there weren't any late sunday games on regardless of daylight saving. It seems there was a lot of qld games being scheduled in that timeslot and the players (but mostly media) were complaining about the heat. Rightly so from a players and fan perspective. But if I was wearing...

    2024 Crowd Watch

But the sharks went broke at least 5 times since they entered the comp, so owning your own small ground obviously doesn't make enough money. They are just lucky they had a lot of land around the venue that someone else paid to develop.

    2024 Crowd Watch

I have heard it is expensive but until I see the figures I won't believe 10k @ $50-$75 at kayo with bugger all corporate can make more money than 20k+ at suncorp where seats are more expensive and there is 5000 high value corporate seats to sell. Even if rent was 500k a game, which i believe it...

    2024 Crowd Watch

Exactly the time when they want to maximise building the fanbase in case they go through a rough patch like the titans. Small time thinking playing out of a park football ground and locking out a minimum 40k people a year from attending will not build a big club. We bag the sharks out for their...

    2024 Crowd Watch

It is not a better option though as last year they got 22k against souths on a thursday and this year at least 12k people miss out. They are already a 'big' club, certainly much bigger than 10k crowds.

    2024 Crowd Watch

Yeh, just going on how the sales have been I think it will break 20k. I think it's the reach around in the afl (poor mans magic round) so no games in melbourne must be a positive despite it being a thursday game.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Yes but it really doesn't work like that in reality. For a 6pm friday game you would expect there would be 20k max willing to go of which a third to half won't attend if it is pissing down, it's just too much effort to make it there in time for worse quality football. And unless they open level...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Yeh why not? This weekend you will have 2 games attendances effected by weather at accor and lets face it, rain affected games are shite imo. Anyone who says they enjoy them and that it is 'part of the game' has rocks in their head.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Agreed, I am all for a roof at accor but also realise that would kill any rebuild for 20 to 30 years. If the NRL welcomes it than they kind of lose the leverage of selling the GF and would look greedy pushing for further upgrades there or at suburban grounds.

    2024 Crowd Watch

Dolphins was looking good while the sale was on and looked like less than a thousand tickets left but now there is 3 more bays showing tickets available, maybe 2k or so left. Might break 20k also depending on the weather. Anyone know what the capacity of the lower tier is at suncorp...

    2024 Crowd Watch

Looking good to still break 20k even with thursday no-shows you would think? Sales look similiar to the warriors game which drew 22k.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

For 300M not much good could be done to the majority of the stadium. At most a rebuild of the ground level, at worst only bringing the ends in closer with the same shallow stands and sideline the same. Also I imagine that brand new 100 metre long screen at the southern end would be redundant if...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

State Government starts feasibility study about building $300m roof over Sydney’s biggest venue Accor Stadium could soon come with a $300m roof as tenants such as South Sydney and Canterbury-Bankstown are approached to ask for feedback on the state government’s plan...

    The Las Vegas Thread

The line up I would like to see for next year is penrith v dolphins and cronulla v warriors. Penrith home game due to stadium redevelopment and sharks home game so there is one less game at their dump. Both those games on their own in australia probably get less than 30k so should be a net...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

That 70k concept they had a couple years ago was perfect and I was so disappointed when politics stopped it from happening. A little small for origins and the GF but was a good option givdn the constraints of building within the shell of the original stadium. Was costed at only 700M too...

    2024 Crowd Watch

I agree with you, but unless the dragons and tigers start playing at the big modern stadiums that success won't be realised in big home crowds. It will be the other big sydney clubs that benefit from the away followings. P.S. I think we can start to include the roosters as a big sydney club now.
