    The USA has 14 teams so at best what 300 players who play in amateur 8 week competition. If by adding a handful of non NRL playing Aussies they hold their own at the RLWC that will be an outstanding effort.

    If you have a closer look you will see that it is stated that the field plan is part of the Rules so the goal posts are intended to be on the goal line but great to see common sense prevailing... but surely penalty kicks would have been advanced???

    Of course they are not within the rules. The international rules state they must be on the goal line. Common sense dictates that the teams can agree otherwise but that doesn't mean the rules say the goal posts can be on the dead ball line.

    By my count they had 6 from 2011 v USA and 7 from 2011 v Canada. In the squad 9 were from the domestic comp which was outstanding.

    Soccer in Australia when I was a kid in the bush was something that had a weird co-existence with rugby league. Boys played soccer till under 12 then swapped to rugby league so except in big towns soccer didn't exist over u/12 level and rugby league didn't exist for under 12s. I and my mates...
