Don't want to really turn this into a Roosters thing but the Roosters haven't signed a big marquee player in years let alone got one for unders. Brandon Smith is probably the closest to a marquee player we've got in the past 4 seasons and I think you'd agree that on 850k a season we overpaid...
Sure the PNG locals may do that but the NRL itself needs marketable players in teams for their TV deals and the games here. Nobody is going to turn up to see PNG's NRL team in Sydney with a bunch of QLD Cup players and whatever NRL players PNG can get together.
But how? Great young players...
Maybe I'll end up being wrong but even if the PNG team can offer 20% more on wages to players I just can't see them ever being able to attract the players to become more competitive than a bottom four side to be honest.
First, from a commercial standpoint the PNG team will want a large amount...
Obviously as one of the few Roosters fans here I'm biased but I think the Roosters just lack a 5/8 and a quality centre to win the comp, we always lacked the spine to be able to compete with Panthers and Storm but with Tedesco, Walker and Robson making up 3/4s of the spine in 2026 we'll be...
Very happy with this, probably the second best hooker under the age of 30 in the comp. As long as we sign or develop a suitable six we should be very competitive in 2026
Ehhhh I look at that 2023 grand final side and since then they've lost Farnworth, Flegler and Kurt Capewell who are all representative players. Brisbane will be very dangerous if they can get their best 17 on the field at some point. Haas, Walsh, Carrigan, Riki, Cobbo, Staggs, Mam, Reynolds and...
One of the worst and most biased grand finals of all time. I knew who was leaving victorious when the opening went 10-15 minutes with minimal mention of the dogs.
I think the Tigers could have a top 4 side this year and definitely a top 8 side, after the years of heartache you blokes have gone through I'm here for it.
Bula has plenty of potential, Staines, Turuva and Olam are premiership winning backs. Galvin is probably the best rookie half in the comp...
I think for the most part the Dragons recruitment has been good this year but there might be a couple of problems:
1. Is Gutho really the man to dominate at fullback? For me Sloan and Holmes would both be better fullback options even despite Holmes playing centre for the past however many...
Of course, can't make fun of them for it though. If a Nathan Cleary or a Reece Walsh or a Cam Munster wanted to go over they'd bring A LOT of attention and eyes to the Union product. Problem is those eyes wouldn't stay because Union isn't very good but as a piece of marketing it is smart to sign...
Roosters have struggled against top sides and in general really because we lack a good spine. We've had players like Lachlan Lam, Kyle Flanagan, Sandon Smith, Drew Hutchison, a struggling Luke Keary and others line up as regular spine players whilst Melbourne and Penrith have had the likes of...
Has to be Luke Brooks doesn't it? 231 NRL games and all he has to show for it is 2 finals games, an NRL All-Stars game and a halfback of the year award. The rest of the Tigers "big four" went onto Origin series victories, grand finals, playing for the national team whilst Luke has had nothing...
If Hunt is able to play 2025 at a different club then would love to see him join the mighty Roosters, he'd come in handy for the Roosters start to the season, right now it's looking like Sandon Smith and Chad Townsend will line up, Sandon Smith and Ben Hunt looks infinitely better and a spine of...
Papua New Guinea if they still plan on going there is probably the one that would make the least sense. "Hey, lets start a team in a city with the same population as Wollongong which is a 4 hour flight away in a developing nation with no star player to market the code over there"
Maybe I'm...
I thin he is one of the most overrated players in the comp, a few posters have said he'd be great with less pressure and a half to take responsibility from him but when you're paying a million dollars a season for a player you want a player that can kind of do it all.
Definitely not a small club at all, Penrith has one of the biggest support areas, you start seeing Penrith fans from about Blacktown, Hawkesbury and Liverpool and then obviously more as you get closer to Penrith. That's a million potential fans from those areas alone but then outside of Sydney...
The situation last night was a no try but I understand why people don't have faith in the NRL referees, they truly are the worst referees in any major sporting league that I've seen.
If I had to have a bet on it right now I'd say Melbourne win the comp next year probably beating Penrith so it'll be different but also just as boring.
Melbourne lose no players, Penrith lose 3 from their grand final side last night. Roosters were no real shot even in 2024 but now we've lost...
The cause for concern is that Cleary and Munster should be wanting to play these games for Australia even if banged up and nursing minor injuries. From a marketability aspect the people have been promised the best of Australian rugby league playing in this tournament but there isn't a lot of...
Aussie side looking the weakest it has in quite some time. Top 17 possibly looking like?
1. Edwards 2. Coates 3. Fidow 4. Trbojevic 5. Lomax 6. Dearden 7. Moses 8. Cotter 9. Grant 10. Collins 11. Crichton 12. Martin 13. Yeo (C)
14. Hunt 15. L. Smith 16. Barnett 17. Carrigan
