    The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

30k max. Honestly what hope are they getting even that many. Their dominance is poor for the prospect of big crowds at big stadiums especially up against an out of town side. If this was Parra or Wests we’d be talking 60k and over. NRL needs to get active discounting seats.

    The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

Ben Ikin being CEO of the QRL is a massive boost. His measured take down of AFL Gil last month was fantastic. He is hellbent on structure and pathway programs which will ensure the Gold Coast produces talent for generations. They must not neglect the Sunny Coast though, half a dozen games there...

    The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

It was ridiculously hot up here yesterday. Sitting out in that sun in 30 odd deg heat and 80% humidity on plastic seats is no fun. Huge result for the Titans though, should see them push 20’s if they keep winning.

    The Game 2021 Crowd Watch

did you miss the it about 180k people trying to buy who missed out? They could have sold out optus stadium 4 times over! Yeah i’d think whoever spun the yarn about 180k people in Perth trying to by tickets is pretty handy with the coloured pencils. A typical AFL spin story that is never...

    The Game 2021 Crowd Watch

Which is why they can crow about selling out their big game, only a fraction of the tickets are made public. I just tried to buy one ticket for Sunday in Diamond despite it saying single seats only, was unable to do so.

    The Game 2021 Crowd Watch

I think considering kids are basically at adult prices its a pass. It looked great on tv seeing the eastern bank full. I dare say one prelim at Brisbane and one at GC might have seen a prelim sell out. The city is buzzing for the GF.

    The Game 2021 Crowd Watch

The need to crack 30k but it seems to be no rush on sales. Hopefully the NRL push something to junior players to get people through the gates and stadium members turn up.

    The Game 2020 Crowd Watch

They have to remember it’s the working people’s game. They can make money in other ways rather than gouging the people who are the true fans. Nothing worse than empty seats when its live on tv. Maybe they can work closer with the government seeing as they happily paid the AFL $30m to play their...

    The Game 2020 Crowd Watch

Agree totally. Looked at getting a seat and can’t bring myself to pay $300 for a sideline seat. No doubt the tickets will be handed to sponsors tomorrow to ensure the 50k is met.

    Question on Peter V'landys

Well they don’t want to co-exist, they have made it clear for 20 years they see the NRL, ARU and Football Australia as a competitor to their sport and have made every effort to shoot down those sports through their controlled media (ie Robert Craddock saying AFL is taking over in Brisbane and...

    Question on Peter V'landys

Not just Queenslander’s mate, every state cops it but once the serve is returned they go to pieces. Apparently its the only place in the country that has “culture” (whatever that means) which I assume is what they call sitting in a laneway drinking a coffee. What V’Landys is aware of is the...

    Question on Peter V'landys

The AFL media spin machine has drawn in the knob himself Robert Craddock. Praising the dribble that took place last night in his article today and then mentioning Origin is struggling to sell out at Suncorp. Tickets go on sale Tuesday.... V’Landys is the guy to call out this crap

    Question on Peter V'landys

Because they have probably spent a billion dollars there to make the sport relevant to the non expats that follow it. Lived in Melbourne 35 years, a week wouldn’t go by without RL and Sydney in particular being bagged by AFL people in media. Good on him for serving back their own medicine which...

    The Game 2020 Crowd Watch

They always fill the seats somehow. Just like Storm v Roosters in 2018 and vs Cowboys in 2017. They could potentially be selling more than 40k considering people with freebies won’t turn up in the rain

Grand finalists in the NRL vs AFL for the last 21 Years....

As an ex Vic that grew up watching both thanks to the old man, I agree with everything you’ve said. That’s the part a lot of people outside Melbourne don’t quite appreciate, AFL is the only game. Its an elite school game which is great for top end of town and the working man’s game at the same...

Grand finalists in the NRL vs AFL for the last 21 Years....

Spot on. You cannot blame the Storm for the pretty average support in comparison to the expansion clubs like the Lions and Swans. The club itself has probably done all it can. There is a perpetual hate for RL in the Melbourne media, which is a 24/7 AFL propoganda machine who are even telling us...

    The Game 2020 Crowd Watch

The AFL sold a total of about 18k tickets to competing club members and general public with cheapests seats at $185. The rest are corporates. Panthers obviously don’t have a following in the same mould as Eels or Souths

    The Game 2020 Crowd Watch

Sydney’s AFL numbers are tiny, two NRL games in Brisbane all year were outrated by the Lions two finals matches and only just on Saturday. As they should with the massive free kick this year. Will be interesting to see if the Broncos can turn things around under Kevvie and Titans genuinely...

    Question on Peter V'landys

Courier Mail last Friday, Cochrane the Suns president openly stated AFL games have dominated ratings in Qld on Thursday and Friday nights. ....sorry I probably got off track on this thread

    Question on Peter V'landys

Its not about RL being weak in Brisbane is about the attitude of letting another code walk into the heartland, tell lies about ratings and participation that are never questioned while sitting back as a heartland with the exact same number of professional teams as your rival.
