How long have you been in Griffith for?

Endeavour were the primary importer since Coles delisted it in favour of their own brand equivalent. Endeavour is probably going to do the same as Coles after they've finished making everyone redundant. First round just went through.

They're a schizophrenic nightmare from a supplier end. I stopped dealing with them years ago. It's not worth the time and effort. I hate Endeavour but they're at least competent by comparison.

It's becoming more and more "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black". There is actually a lot of opportunity in the market for small, nimble retailers willing to spend the time to build a customer base. We're slowly doing it at TWC but it's quite...

Its going to fall flat. I mean, fancy killing Vintage Cellars - whatever moron thinks that is a good idea should be shot. It was the one good thing in Coles. They're shit stores, sorry. I know a store is made of people who make the culture, but the overarching 'top down' culture is bargain...

John Duval Annexus mataro. Oh my... what a gorgeous wine.

Later vintages have all gone to the super light alcs. I think 2019 was 12.4%, which has been unheard of from a shiraz out of Coonawarra since the 70's. At least, deliberately, anyway. Sue is really trying to turn back the clock. They're working a lot in the vineyards to improve their quality...

Had zero idea they grew Mourvedre up there. Super interested. I'll stick that in my next order box.

@Bazal @horrie hastings - got myself a botle of Swinney 'Farvie' Mourvedre. So tempted to crack it and drink now. Will give it a few years. Also got a St Clare from Jim Barry too. Down to the cellar they go...

I think I've got to the point where picking apart wines isn't the enjoyable bit for me. I taste so many now. I want wines to jump out and scream 'I'm f**king better than the rest'. Strange blends, value and drinking wines of provenance are what get my juices flowing.

Did a Pinot Noir tasting bracket last week on Friday. Had the By Farr, Mt Mary and Bass Phillip. They were nice. But just reaffirmed that I'm not a Pinot Noir drinker.

So one day per week as you use the sick leave? ;) Spent a weekend in Clare Valley. A lot of farmers hurting right now. They're adapting best they can but its been tough. Managed to score a bottle of Mitchell's McNichol Shiraz v10. Still quite young.

Agree re Sorby lol. Yeah, the Cradle Bay SB sounds like Tier 4 blend. Which is basically straight from the cats litter box straight to the bottle. There were a few parcels back in... I'm going to say v14 - v17 where some big volumes of bulk were going very, very cheap. Frank Tate was selling...

He flies them around for promotion. That's why. Put it this way. They're buying Australian wine and selling it at 60%. Cost price includes WET ex GST. Angel price is what you're paying. It's commercial grade wine they sell at silly prices. CC @Bazal ; I'm sure you'll be interested.

Worked for Pernod a while back. The original appellated wines were pretty decent. The SA stuff just average. But consistent drop and blended well.

Get a PWA / wine broker and tell them what you like. They'll do the rest for you.

Check in on Laithwaites UK. It's at least proper wine. Thank f**k someone else sees it. Exactly what I thought too. They're hypocrites. Naked Wines are not the best. Not even close. Cheap commercial wine is all it is.
