I thought Crouch's record was bad, well unfortunately in year's to come I think the name Thorman will be used in the same breathe as
Carriage
Crouch
Kusto
McFadden

But from all the names listed above I don't recall any who have gone winless for the Eels.

Surely someone can name someone who has has a worse win/loss ratio then our mighty pommy halfback!! #-o

fair enough, but i don't realistically think that it is his fault though......the problems come from above....the coach

This is always a dumb stat.

Nathan Hindmarsh has a pretty weak win/loss ratio over the last two years. We beat manly by 50 without him, lets punt him

11 wins from 13 games after his ankle injury in 2003.

13-20 is a smidgin better than 0-7

That my point. you can fudge this thing all you like. its one of the more irrelevant stats around. I reckon paul carige and benny kusto would both have pretty good win/loss records

Well why the hell not?

His record speaks for itself, especially in grand finals ;-)

More alarmingly-

check out his try assists for the season. 1. One farkin try assist in 7 games- and that was a forward pass along the ground scooped up by Fui in the game against Melbourne.

Also, check out the total number of points we have scored in games he has played.

20 v Cowboys
6 v Tigers
6 v Dragons
16v Melbourne
16 v Melbourne
2 v Tigers
10 v Warriors

We average less than 11 points per game when he's in the side and close to 25 points per game when he's out of the side.

Those statistics are damning.

If he is picked ahead of Witt (who is also shit but contracted long term and better than Thorman) than its a disgrace. IMHO anyone who rates Thorman has no idea. I really do hope Smith didn't entertain thoughts of bringing him back next season.

i actually think that Freak's point is far more relevant than we are giving it credit. Hindmarsh is a tackle machine, a workhorse, an attacking weapon on the fringes of the ruck and an all round champion, but he is not meant to be the play maker of the team. Stats lie often, but this win-loss stat IS relevant when assessing the team's chief playmaker. Its relevant for the Knights without Joey and the Roosters without Fittler and i am afraid to say that with Chris Thorman pulling the strings at halfback, with his terrible kicking game and the rest of it, we have not managed to win a game yet. This is a relevant stat.

Nothing against the guy personally, but with him moving on next year, there is absolutely ZERO logic behind playing him for the remainder of the season instead of Mick Witt or even Tim Smith for that matter. We have nothing to gain by playing him.

Did anyone watch him play reggies against Penrith. He was out of ideas there as well and really stiffled the attack. He was disgraceful- yet the next week he was in first grade. He brings the reserve grade team undone.

Whoever had the idea of bringing him to Australia (I believe it was Tony Smith) deserves to be shot.

He stuffed us up hardcore in the Warriors game with the intercept he threw to Jones and his defence in the Melbourne game last week was terrible. He's a farkin disgrace.

How's Thorman's points as a 5/8? Actually, how are his points as 5/8 with Witt at half?

Williams point is more relevant than a win/loss record on its own, which is nothing but a cosmetic stat.

look you gotta try some things, and hindsight is a powerful tool. Noone can predict the future and i am sure that Thorman has plenty of raw talent and has shown lots of ability in the English SuperLeague. It's the same thing with some of the younger guys in Reggies that don't crack it in first grade in the NRL. Its all well and good to dominate when the defence hangs back and the intensity is not so high, but the NRL is a different game. The Tigers didn't give Thorman an inch on Sat night and he wasn't able to come up with anything in response.

I don't blame the club for bringing him out, but Smith has to bite the bullet and admit that there is no point continuing with the Thorman experiment.

Scapegoats are loose on the town. Unfortunately, we have an English one. The mighty Michael Witt's record this year is not much better and I can guarantee that if he was playing in those games we still wouldn't win. The area we are losing is in our forwards defensive and attacking structures. Don't blame Thorman for our lack of attacking ability, when he has no support. If he had some hard running forwards and backs that actually ran at holes then we would do better. I mean what is a flat attacking style supposed to prove? We need our players to run at pace!

I guess that shows how good Dykes actually is. He has nothing to work with yet still manages to do some good things. Sure he makes mistakes- yes some are crucial..but he has points in him and is 100 times the player Thorman is. I can't believe we'd let him go without a suitable replacement- esp if we can fit him under the cap.

On Thorman again I actually watched some Super League game after I heard we'd signed him- and he wasn't very impressive there either. It was a dud choice to bring him out here. Just like it was a dud choice to get rid of Willie Tonga.

In my opinion they are the two of the moments that shaped our season before it even began.

ie. Buying Thorman, releasing Tonga- WTF is making the decisions in this joint?

perhaps you are right ParraDaze, but his kicking game was appaling the other night and i haven't seen much better in his other games.

Witt has not been going much better, but he does have that great performance against the Roosters under his belt. My main point is that with Thorman leaving in 2005 there is no logic behind playing him for the rest of the season. At least Witt can learn on the job for next season.

Morris at Halfback. He is the most logical choice. He should play there next season. I know he is injured at the moment but he should play there next season.

Parramatta Round 1 2005

1. Wade McKinnon
2. Luke Burt
3. Ben Smith
4. Daniel Wagon / Ash Graham (dependant on recovery)
5. Eric Grothe

6. Michael Witt / John Morris
7. John Morris / Our fantastic new halfback signing

8. Paul Stringer
9. Mark Riddell
10. Michael Vella
11. Nathan Hindmarsh
12. Nathan Cayless
13. Glenn Morrison

14. Dean Widders
15. Lee Hopkins / Dummy half player (maybe Webster)
16. Chad Robinson
17. Another Forward (Afamasaga, Moi Moi, Curtis, Cordoba...etc)
