Hopefully the Broncos win, as the Raiders are in great form and will knock the Panthers out of the top 8 if they win here.

Brisbane aren't playing to their potential yet, they should still have to much for the raiders

No T Carney is a big loss for the Raiders. They were always going to beat the Titans. Brisbane are a bit overrated at the moment, not playing that good. That said, at home, they should win and creep closer to the top-four. Frightening, as they haven't even hit top-form.

In attack yes but in defence no. People forget that defense is half the game. Both the Raiders halves are defensively sound as are our centres (monaghan, Chalk). I'd rather see Purtell and Best named on the wings rather than J.Carney as they are much safer under the high ball. J.Carney is a centre not a winger and i can see him getting found out if he plays against a quality playmaker and backline eg. Lockyer + Broncs

Broncos v Raiders Preview

Suncorp Stadium
Sunday 3pm
THIS is possibly one of the most anticipated Broncos-Raiders clashes since the ’90s when both teams were full of stars and produced blockbuster after blockbuster.
Here are two sides in the competition up to their eyeballs; the Broncos are in fifth and still in a battle for a spot in the top four and a home final, while the Raiders are literally hanging on to eighth spot by the skin of their teeth, currently in the finals zone thanks to percentages only.
Both sides will take the field with some form on the board. The Broncos beat the Sharks last weekend while the Raiders have now won three in a row, the last a hammering of the Titans.
In what is a rarity these days in the NRL both sides have named unchanged line-ups although the Raiders have added Neville Costigan and Michael Weyman to their bench.
Watch out Broncos: The Raiders are ready to send their attack left.
The right side Brisbane defenders are still struggling, giving the Raiders a distinct place to send their attack.
The likes of Sam Thaiday, Darren Lockyer and Justin Hodges are coming under heavy fire and have conceded 30 tries down their side, including both Sharks four pointers from last weekend, compared to 19 on the flip side.
Lockyer is missing 37 per cent of tackles while Hodges is missing 27 per cent as well, which has Colin Best and Adrian Purtell excited.
Best is in great form both as a finisher out wide and a support player up the middle, bringing back memories of the style of play Nathan Blacklock used to his advantage.
Watch out Raiders: The Broncos will also send attack left because it has proven to be a goldmine for them.
Greg Eastwood and Sam Thaiday love the left fringes and scored tries there last weekend.
Thaiday regularly makes breaks down the left side and he’ll be given the opportunity to continue this against Canberra.
Over the course of the season the Broncos have scored 33 tries on the left side of the field, 20 of which have come on the left edge.
This compares to 23 on the right side, only 13 of which are on the right edge.
Where it will be won: Defence in the opposition’s half.
This match pits the two best sides in the competition when it comes to scoring tries from long range.
The Raiders have been super exciting to watch on their way to 18 tries from over halfway and the Broncos are the closest competitor with 12 tries from distance.
Both teams won’t be afraid to shift the ball from their own half and early in the tackle count or even on the last tackle.
As such both sides need to be awake to the ploy defensively and maybe be a little more spread than usual.
This means trusting the forwards to make their tackles, especially on the edges.
If they decide to stay compressed they’ll have to be ready to slide when the shift is on.
The History: Played 34; Broncos 19, Raiders 14, drawn 1.
The Raiders prevailed 34-16 earlier this season but the Broncos have won four of the past six matches between the two sides.
In the nine games played at Suncorp Stadium the Broncos have a 6-3 advantage.
Conclusion: The Raiders are in great form and are likely to be in this match for lengthy periods but the home ground advantage swings the favouritism to the Broncos.
It should be an attacking extravaganza and as such very entertaining.
Both sides have scored and conceded plenty of tries from kicks but we should still get a great mix of both foot and hand when it comes to attack.
The safe bet is the Broncos but then again the Raiders were underdogs in two of their three recent wins.
Match officials: Referee – Tony Archer; Sideline Officials – Steve Carrall & Peter Kirby; Video ref – Paul Simpkins.
Televised: Channel 9 – Delayed 4.00pm; Fox Sports 2 – Delayed 6.00pm.

Broncos have injury worries

By Steve Ricketts
July 30, 2008

BRISBANE half-back Peter Wallace is racing the clock to be fit for Sunday's NRL match against Canberra after he copped knees in the back in their 18-12 win over Cronulla.

Hooker/half-back P. J. Marsh is also battling a back complaint after he was twisted awkwardly in a tackle playing for Central Comets against Wynnum-Manly.

Broncos performance director Jeremy Hickmans said Wallace was still very sore but hoped to train Thursday for the first time since the Cronulla match.

"He got knees in the back in the middle of a tackle," Hickmans said. "There was nothing sinister about it but it's taken a while to settle down."

Centre Justin Hodges (corked thigh), second-rower Corey Parker (calf) and utility David Stagg (ankle) are also carrying injuries.

Basically if we win this then we will finish top 8. We will then only need 2 more wins from souths, NQ, Bulldogs, Panthers, Knights.
