7 News just stated that the Storm will be $1.2m over the cap in 2011!
That's $5m+ playing roster. Anyone still feeling sorry for them?
Alright if you're in a top of the table team with test and origin stars everywhere and you're found to be $400k over the cap, I might believe you if you say I didn't know anything about us being over the cap. Hell I might believe it if it was $700k over. But a MILLION DOLLARS OVER  I really can't see how any of the players did not realise they might have been cheating

in 2011 they won't be one cent over the cap now that they have been caught if they have to lose half the team to do it thats tough sh*t

bullsh*t .. they will pretend to be under and 'learning their lesson' .. any player who comes out with the 'taking a pay cut' line should be sent to england..

The NRL have already said they cannot do that. They have to completely shed their team and players to get under the cap.

Yep - our boys were not allowed to take a pay cut to keep Kingston at the club, so damn right the Storm shouldn't be allowed to do it either.

As I used to say as a kid: suffer the pain, Storm!

I'm pissed for NZ tonight. They missed out on 2 points because their opposition cheated.

30% over the cap!!!!!! How in the hell can anybody feel sorry for these cheating Merkins. Imagine if they hdn't of been caught they would have just kept on cheating everyone without a second thought.

You're not the only one scratching your head mate.

At least when we play them in Rd. 13 the whole 'do it for each other and prove the haters wrong' thing should have died down and the depressing reality of their situation will hopefully have set in.

Whoever wins the title this year will unfortunately be plagued forever by the what-ifs caused by the points that were denied to certain teams by the storm.

This has become a very confusing season to be honest.

I was not surprised that the Storm smashed the Warriors tonight. How long this "we will shove it in everyone's faces" mentality lasts is anyone's guess.
Maybe it won't last long at all, and those who have to play them twice might actually benefit???
Only time will tell.

One positive from tonight though was the amount of support Melbourne had at the game.
Seriously, it was possible that the Melbourne public could have told League to shove it up their arse, and only 6-8 000 turn up.
They didn't though, and almost 24000 rallied behind that team, one of their biggest ever regular season crowds.
I say good on 'em, because I still think we need to persist in the Melbourne market. It's a no brainer actually, because it adds dollars to the TV contracts - dollars in which other Sydney clubs will benefit from.
Tonight's crowd show's that there can be a market in Melbourne for Rugby League. The last thing I want is for the NRL to abandon the Melbourne market. We cannot give AFL an inch and nor should we.
Sure, Melbourne are considered to be cheating for the rest of the season unless they cut their playing roster, which seems unlikely. Who cares? They aren't getting any points for it anyway.
Next season, they will be back under the cap. Rugby League can then again show it has survived more adversity, and continue to strengthen it's market for the good of the game.
Rugby League will never die. I just hope it doesn't die in Melbourne.

No, some teams play them twice.

And that's the exact reason why you can't just give everyone 2 points automatically I guess

There was no easy answer, but one thing was clear. They could not be allowed to make the finals this year, fullstop. Whether they got 0 points and couldn't earn any, got -50 and could still get 2 points for a win, or whatever, if people are complaining about what the NRL 'did' then they are seriously misguided. There's only 1 guilty party in this, and they're the cheats in purple.

As I said, they have a fair amount of players on massive back ended contracts. Their plan obviously was to just cheat into the future and dont worry about by how much. In 4 - 5 years, it could have been 3 million....
The only thing that Gallop should have done and he didnt was to suspend the whole club from the 2010 comp.

What we should have done is shore up our own backyard !
The areas of Central NSW and QLD are pleading for a NRL team. so is Christchurch.
Thats where we should have gone!
The Vics can have the AFL.

The moment we take nrl out of victoria, is the moment the nrl conceeds defeat to these afl warmongers
And what about the rest of Australia and NZ ???
Do we wait until they are taken over by the AFL or Super Rugby until we pay them some attention ?
Instead we worry about trying to establish in Victoria where they dont give a hoot about the game.

Its a bit like trying to grow veges in the desert when there is plenty of great soil nearby.

As much a i hate Melbourne the team and everything they have done to the game we need a strong and competitive Melbourne. They are crucial to our next TV which should be around the Billion dollar mark. Apparently they are one of the most watched teams on Fox every week.
