Aaaaand the excuses are flowing from the unclean

If Sam Burgess wasn't trying so hard to be tough he might actually be a good player but instead he just comes across as a moronic thug.

just got home,a long arse day that...can't talk my voice has gone...lol..

id tinker with the team abit start widdop at 6,sinfield at 9..have roby impacting off the bench...

our outside backs performed really well, can't be faulted imo...

all 3 burgii need to cut the errors out

and we need to concentrate for 80min...

all in all im happy with the pride, passion & performance shown by the england boys earlier, lots of positives to build on...

England appear to be two or three players short of Australia class wise. That said, they are more than capable of beating Australia but everything has to go right.
England were missing Graham and O'Loughlin who would have made a huge difference.

Yes, strangely England where not at full strength and ran the kangaroos close with their first choice players in practically every position on the park.

Although i don't know what difference o'loughlin would make? Graham definitely.

Next time it should be same backline then Widdop, Sinfield, G.Burgess, Roby, Graham, Ferres, Westwood, S. Burgess. Bench- Burrow, Mossop, O'Loughlin, Hill

S.Burgess let himself and england down big time last night and needs to improve 100% next time around.

That was a weak looking team on paper for Australia and it performed as such. Good to get the win, but the game was too close when the likes of Jennings, Hayne and DCE would have really added something to the attack. Likewise having a Myles or Papali would have added a bit to the team instead of a Tamou or Thaiday.

Given Sheens wants to give everyone who missed out in Game 1 a run next week, I hope we see:

1. Greg Inglis
2. Brett Morris (LW)
3. Michael Jennings (Swap at halftime with Morris)
4. Josh Morris (Swap at halftime with Jenko)
5. Jarryd Hayne (RW)
6. Johnathon Thurston
7. Daly Cherry-Evans
8. Matt Scott
9. Cameron Smith
10. Paul Gallen
11. Luke Lewis
12. Boyd Cordner
13. Corey Parker

14. Andrew Fifita
15. Nate Myles
16. Josh Papali
17. Cooper Cronk

Jennings and Morris can spend a half on both sides on the field. Basically to see who should be our right centre. But also allows us to see if we can cover both centres positions and move Greg Inglis to fullback. If we can cover that, we should see which combinations work better.

DCE starting at halfback and pushing Cronk to the bench as a utility. Hopefully DCE steps up and manages to force his way into the #7 jersey. Cronk was pretty underwhelming IMO and I think that DCE is the better player.

Would like to see how Papali and Cordner go. I think they could both prove they deserve to be ahead of Thaiday. ALso think Myles and Gallen should be playing front row ahead of James Tamou. See how Lewis and Parker go in a starting role. THey had a far better average of metres per run then Bird and Thaiday in the starting side.

The next game should be an easy enough win that we can trial some of these things with next to no risk. I also think this side that is more mobile in the forwards and has more pace in the backline would be able to rack up quiet a score against Fiji.

Um I actually specified how I thought the team could have been picked better. None of my suggestions involved adding more Souths players so your post is a fail at trolling.
Sorry mate, but writing the names of players who's DNA you'd like to rearrange in a Coffs public toilet, isn't specifying a better team alternative... Just sayn.

surely England fans would be hoping Burgess gets a 5 week suspension... without him out there England win that game comfortably

Old mate Corey Parker had a shocker, what happened to the champ

Did he? I thought he just didn't get game time in true Sheens style.

Parker isn't really an impact player anyway, he is in your 13 or out for mine.

Bird seems to be getting a free ride on this forum, I thought he was up there with Tamou et al as being complete shit. And he is a send off waiting to happen.

Bird is like a black hole - the ball comes to him and it never leaves (apart from crappy flick offloads that hit the ground.) Trying to milk a penalty everytime he is tackled is also getting very old....

Parker deserved way more game time.

 So very true.

This Aussie side has so many blokes in it living on reputation alone. Don't get me wrong, I think Bird is a class player. But the point is that he doesn't need to play well for long stretches of the season as he'll still get picked because he's Greg Bird.

Same goes for Sam Thaiday.

Boyd Cordner is so much better than Thaiday it's not funny. And Parker was immense this season and absolutely deserves to start at 13 with Gallen in the front row ahead of James Tamou who also seems to have joined the "picked on name" club.

Sheens stated he was going for experience. Playing it safe. And it'll cost Australia against the Kiwis.

Anyway, this win guarantees Australia a cakewalk to the final. England will need to step up big time to make it. I know they usually beat the Kiwis at home, but this years Kiwi squad looks like their best ever. gonna be tough.

I think a cakewalk is the last thing the Aussies needed. Most of the Australians in the side are coasting on reputations, and with no real 'big' matches remaining now, there is no pressure on Sheens to make any tough decisions. They'll coast to the final, whilst England/New Zealand will have to take the hard road and be much better off for it, imo.

The front row is especially troubling - Tamou and Scott are so far from the 2012 models it isn't funny. Fifita is in excellent form though. Is there even any other props in the squad?

Speaking of which, why do coaches suddenly hate specialist front rowers?

Tamou was pathetic, pretty much like the majority of his 2013 NRL campaign.

I think Tate should get put onto the wing, drop Morris and bring in Jennings.

If S.Burgess doesn't play England win

The Shit Burgess brother was pretty average too.

He is barely first grade let alone international at this stage of career.

Its like picking Jamal Idris after 6 good games for Australia, its undeserved and too early.
