13 wins would be massive

First up: I think we will miss the 8 on 13 wins unless a few results go our way.

Having said that, we haven't had 13 wins in a season since 2007, and we ought to make that mark by beating Newie and Canberra. We have only had more than 13 wins 3 times this decade, so whatever happens from here out, we have had a pretty decent season!!

We would be desperately unlucky to miss the 8 on 30 comp points, but this year that is a real chance. Even if we miss out on that mark, I will be stoked. Amazing to come out of 3 seasons of impotent on field displays.

Even if we don't win another game this season has been a massive success, we have blooded some quality young players and BA has shown he is one of the most promising coaches in the competition.

13 wins with this roster will be a fantastic achievement.

Agreed, although pissed that we had the game their to win last night, 11 wins so far has been monumental for us!

We are very poor starters and have been all year. I am wrapped with our season to date but I would really like to see the side get off to a good start next weekend. If we score the first two tries for a change we will be tough to beat.

We almost got the dogs who bashed the shit out of us in the first half, Manly will do the same next week, we need to handle it better otherwise we're no chance.

Dogs have a better pack then manly I reckon, it's just manly have a gun backline. I reckon we will beat manly at home next week

Good thread - it will be a successful season but next year the expectations will be high. Everyone had us more spoon contenders than top 8.

We start slowly but also, we haven't put teams away like others have. The big losses cost us but we just seemed content about the 2 points, not helping the F/A.

Plenty of improvement gained this year, plenty more to work on.

I don't think we're out of it on 30 points, but we are really relying on the performances of other teams.

If we win our last 3 we definitely make it, if we win 2 of our last 3 we really need the Cowboys and Warriors to be dropping a few games.

Personally I think the Cowboys and Warriors are probably in too good form to be dropping those games, but they're also teams that are capable of not firing on the day, particular away from Home.

I am quietly confident of a win next Friday. Last home game , we should get at least 18000 and I think Jarryd will continue to rise to the occasion.
Knights and Raiders away present difficult hurdles but if we are going to make the eight a run in against those two would actually be a good preparation.
We will finish 7th I believe.
As far as next year goes , I'm looking forward to a rotation where we have Peats and De Gois as a tag team act with ten times the talent of Keating/Kingston 2009

Yeah I think you may well be correct.
Peats to start with Degoise to come on in the back end of each half with Peats moving to the middle. Both great defenders but its their line speed that is so impressive.
I reckon Lussick had a rocket put up him at half time last night. He was pretty much useless in the first half. His lack of urgency to get off the ground and get back into the line after making a tackle was disgraceful. I reckon it was he who cost us that game in the first half. Although not fantastic, he was much improved in the second half. The guy is no where near fit enough and hes taking money under false pretenses this year so far.

I don't think we will play both Peats and DeGois.

they are genuinely our 2 hardest hitting defenders - we don't lose anything in defense having them both out there ...... problem is the go forward of others who might be out there at the same time

You're probably right. I just don't reckon we will. I think we will go with one 80 minute hooker. That will be Peats.

I agree - Peats is probably best as an 80 minute dummy half .... but i think while we've got degois, who goes ok, we'll use him

Agreed. De Gois hits hard for a little bloke, and he's smart at dummy half, but so is Peats and they can both play 80 minutes.

Isaac De Gois misses plenty of tackles as well, and outside of dummy half neither of them offer much in attack. That means it's pointless having both on the field at once. And Peats is one of our best players - we don't want him on the bench just so De Gois can have a run.

When Peats has played this year he has been dummy half for 99% of the time so we really havent seen what else he could do under Arthurs structure. He could possibly play the Joe Paulo role when Degois3 is at dummy half. Hes a smark cookie is our Mr Peats. Dont sell him short. I agree Degoise offers little when not at dummy half which happens quite often.
